re: in college, I typically have some dead time each week, as for some reason most instructors tend to assign stuff due at the same time.

but anyways, I'm going to wait for a little while, and shoot for after a couple more discs are released. then...if I really need another scene, I'll search via the fansub route.
AMVs that I have made:
Berserk - The Fight Must Go On - Drama, Action, Violent, Story
Teenage Cowboy Bebop Turtles(TCBT) - Fun, Trailer, Parody

Sounds smart to me. I have a bunch of ideas that I am also holding off of because of disks not being out yet. Hopefully that will change soon.

Hahahaha. Sorry I reorder the numbers and left out 4.

Yes, I think you have made a wise choice. I am in the same boat myself. Come on last volume of EVA. (and several other anime)

Well, when it comes to ripping, yeah. I was able to rip the R2 EoE with no problems in my R1 DVD-ROM drive.
But I couldn't <i>play</i> the sucker without changing my drive's region code (which I refused to do)... and I've always been under the impression that all-region DVD players and drives are rare compared to the usual single-region players and drives. This is not the case?

Um, won't we have <i>more</i> time (and money!) for things like this after graduating college, due to lack of homework and studying and the like?

Well newer DVD players don't care. As for drives it may depend on the program you use. Plus you can always filter through AviSynth.

If nothing else you can remove the region code fairly easily.

I am with you Scintilla I think after college your work doesn't follow you home as much. I forget what the hell I am editing after a bunch of homework comes my way. Completely killed my Unforgiven video. But now I use a new method so it won't happen as easily.

it's really a combination of sopposed lack of time and interest, but really, that kinda has nothing to do with the topic.

re: DVD drives, mine can play any region, but my DVD Player software only allows it to be changed 4 times.

I had another vid I was considering doing, but felt it was less original than my FMA one so I put it on hold - I might do it now, if for nothing more than to practice on OpenVIP and ripping DVDs (which is by far my weakest point. first two were done completely in VirtualDub without the use of AviSynth. Video Editing without crossfade is painful, lemme tell ya. I have since learned that AviSynth kicks major ass, as well as VirtualDub Mod)

I hate to go further off topic, but a great many programs will play DVDs to include Winamp and RealPlayer. There are others that may help you get over the region problem.

I guess that is still relevant to using imports for an AMV.
