  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

James Sharp wrote:its also over 4 minutes long too...that is also why the file is large..thanks again :D
Not entirely.

The file's size is also large because you used freaking 48Khz UNCOMPRESSED audio. :x
James Sharp wrote:i would have to re upload the video again..and it took me like a heckava long time to do. i have slow internet..is it really that bad??.
Well, you won't be able to upload it again until you have a mod delete the existing copy.

Why not use that time to go read the rest of the guide about compressing audio until you understand it, and fix the problems with both video and audio, before uploading again?

i am really...REALLY sorry about the audio..i knew about it. but somehow i just didnt do it. and the video problem..well im not sure how i let that happen but i DO read the guides. i also kinda figured even in uncompressed cd quality. that song sounds kinda muffled at the start...but i would really like to get this project behind me...besides i already deleted all my premire files. and all my uncompressed copies of the amv. so i think doing that to the compressed copy now would really mess up the quality.. im new to this whole thing. it was my first premire pro project. so i expected mistakes in audio and video compression and cropping. i really apreciate the advice on the video. but i dont think i can do anything about it now. i would really apreciate if you fine folks could offer me a little imput into the amv itself..thanks for your time

The audio part is fixable, and you can quite literally knock around 40 megs off the size by compressing the audio.

Load the uploaded version of the video in Virtual Dub.
Go to File--> Save .wav, give it a name.
Read the audio part of the guide, about using BeSweet to compress your audio.
Make a 160kbps constant bitrate .mp3 using the guide info and besweet from the .wav file you just saved.
Load the original uploaded version in VDubMod.
select Video-->direct stream copy.
select Streams, click delete for what's shown, which should be the .wav audio, then hit add.
navigate to your newly made .mp3, and hit ok.
go to file, and Save .avi (give it a new name)

there, now test the new file you just made, it should be your exact, original video, but now with .mp3 audio, and the filesize should be more like 52 megs.

That will at least fix the worst problem.

once you have a working file that you've tested, that's the time to request deletion, so you can upload the compressed audio version.

I absolutely will not even consider downloading the version that's there now, I have better uses for my bandwidth.

I appreciate the fact you put in the effort to fix the audio.

I'm grabbing the vid, and I'll have a look at it. No in-depth commentary till tomorrow though, it's gotten pretty late here.

I'm not a big fan of the scoring/opinion system here, I usually prefer to just send a forum PM with my commentary, and an idea of what scores I would have given.

That was better than I expected, a very credible effort.

Pretty solid bit of work there.

More tomorrow via PM, time permitting.

I'm just coming back from an 18 month hiatus from amv making, so I don't have anything new released yet suitable to be opped. The old stuff, I think I've already learned what I can from that.

Thanks for the offer though.
