If you worry because you score lower than the videos 'average received' then there's a quick consistent way around that. Don't look at the reviews received until after you write your review. And don't change your scores if you find them 'off' from the norm for that particular video. If you don't know ahead of time that everyone else gives the vid 10s, you won't be influenced - you can give what *you* think it deserves.

It never occured to me to look at the two public opinions, if the creator made any public, or anything else but the video I was reviewing prior to finishing my own opinion.

If you get complaints, just explain why you gave what you gave (if you didn't already explain that in the review).

Since roughly my second review, I've known to include that information, and always have. People who are fishing just for high scores from friends and friends of friends don't really care about all those clearly documented reasons, though. Nor do the sockpuppet self-raters who give themselves all 10s to offset realistic reviews.

Let me share a choice quote from my response to the creators comments in that second picture:

I stand by my scores and comments, and will not change them to blow sunshine up your ass. If you can't take constructive criticism, you won't improve as an amv maker very fast.

Don't worry about revenge ops and things of that nature. The forum has established that even if you give someone a straight 1s flaming review...if he flames you back you can just edit yours to 'okay 5-6 range' scores and turn *him* in to the admins. He'll get punished and your review gets to stay up on his video.

[Note: If you don't give all 1s - which are very difficult to explain since even those videos that *strive* to be the 'worst amv ever' rarely end up in the all 1s range - then this won't be an issue. So long as you're giving reviews and not flames, you have nothing to worry about.]

Just to be clear, I have not and would never give a "revenge review", nor do I fear getting them. It just doesn't matter to me.

I have never, ever given an all-1s review, and I doubt I ever will. Please note I'm the one giving the low scores in those first two pictures.

Whatever, I've said my bit about why I, and possibly others might get discouraged about trying to give serious, thourough reviews, that was the only point I wanted to make.

You've been doing this long enough to have made up your mind - I wasn't trying to encourage you to write reviews. ^.~ My post was a general response to the creator of the thread. I was late replying to this one.
