Suggestion on Opinions

Post by SacredArrow18 » Wed Mar 23, 2005 11:36 pm

I don't know if you'd change this or not...but maybe there could have a change that when people download so many music videos and watch them, they would "have to" give so many opinions and if they don't give opinions to so many mvs that they won't be able to download anymore mvs until they give opinions to the mvs that they already downloaded? Im not trying to force this but...I have noticed that I just put two music videos on this site and I have had 7 downloads on one, and 16 downloads on my other one and as you can see, no opinions. I have seen that alot on some music videos. All the music videos that I have downloaded, I gave them all opinions and I am going to keep on doing that when I downlaod music videos because it is a nice thing to do even when the opinions could be negative but that what makes it have people get better in mv making.am I right?
I would really like opinions on my two music videos that I just uploaded yesterday and today. so far I only have 1 opinion on each. and I would like to see what other people think about it.
This suggestion I think would be good for the people that put their mvs on this site, because thats what people want, they would like to know what people think of their music videos.
and no I didn't make music videos just to know what people think of them. I just would like to see what people think about them thats all. how hard can it be to give someone an opinion on their mv even if is good/bad? I don't get it.......

It's been fairly well established by now that any attempt to force people to give opinions is doomed to failure. So, uh, probably not a good idea.

oh ok....well it was at least a try on saying that. If nobody gives opinions that much on most of the music videos, why bother having the opinion options?

People give opinions when they want to. It's something done voluntarily. The sheer number of opinions would suggest that the opinion system is very valuable.

As for how often opinions happen, well, let's just say they are substantially rarer then stars. It would be interesting to determine the average download/opinion ratio, but I suspect it has a high standard deviation (snowball effect due to the top 10%).

This subject (number of downloads per opinion) has come up a few times in General AMV if you want to search for those threads and read up on it. I think the result was an average of 1 review for 100 downloads. If you pimp your vid, or if you make a mindblowing whopper of a vid, you'll get a lot more reviews and attention. That you already have 2 reviews after only 2 days is pretty darn good.

If you want feedback, the Opinion Exchange is a good place to look. Few people review everything they download. Some never review anything because they don't think they're 'good enough' to criticize others. Some put so long into each review they don't have the time to do more than one or two a month. And still some only review for friends or the creators they like. It's a fickle thing.

If you want instant consistent reviews - and lots of them - make something outrageously wonderful so we'll all fawn over you. Fanboys/girls leave the most reviews. ^.~

lol. oh alright. I am thinking about making my music videos have more effects in them and I will try to make a video that will blow everyone away. I am just starting to learn how to do all these different effects and I have been using Adobe Premiere 6.0 about 8-9 years now and still haven't mastered all the effects I can do with mvs. The music video that I was blown away with was the music video that Koopiskeva had done. it was really cool how he did all the effects in it. I wish I could do something like that. well doesn't everyone..lol well thats all I have to say.
thanx for the reply.

Don't forget. Making people write opinoins gets you alot of "You vid was ok" and that's in the comments.

Nothing too helpful in that...

Just a reminder: You don't have to use a single effect to create a great video. Often a simple video with a lot of thought put into it is better than a special effects fest.
