Tom is not retired from AMV, but only from the online aspect of it. As far as I can piece together, he got fed up with internet asshattery and decided to restrict his activities to convention showings.

The weird thing is, I remember him telling me at AB last year that Otakon '04 was gonna be it for him...

The Great Wang

Funny. He was the guy who sort've welcomed me into the AMV world once I got interested.

I haven't made anything in months, and I don't really have any others planned... partially because I'm tired of the asshattery on the Internet. :P
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

Asshattery eh? ^_^ Sometimes I look back on those people and wonder, who did they make amvs for anyway? The internet's worthless asshattery? or themselves?

Then there's something called life. Yeah, life can stop anyone from making amvs sadly ;_; Life sux0rs
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

Lowbrow Humor was so good it counted as multiple videos in my book, so you were off the hook the entire time. :P

Yes, you are. You must have missed the memo.
Thank you for making a depressing thread funny.

AFAIK he's working on something right now
That's good to hear.

Remember, some of us edit slower than others. Just cause we haven't touched an editing program in months, doesn't mean we're out of the game.

...people edit on the internet? Funny, I thought they edited on their own and just distributed on the internet.

When my microwave breaks, that doesn't affect my toaster. KnowwhatI'msayin'?

It's almost as though they're being divas, expecting the world to conform to their tastes, and acting like it's all our fault. Hmm. Strange.

I'll nominate Kestrel, who made some lovely works ages upon ages ago and never actually made it to the org, I don't think. I always wished there were more, especially after the Fruits Basket ones.

He's not making any more AMVs, period.
So, as his secretary (I talk to him almost every day), he's retired.

As for other retired good people:

KLin
and
Khandreia

Very underrated but very good.
I miss them.
