You do know that effects and transitions do not appear on the preview/monitor window unless you render scrub, create a preview, or export in Premiere 6.0/6.5 right?

Hrm, Premiere 6.0 doesn't let you change the position over time? I guess you could cut every two frames or so and re-apply the effect with a slightly different position each time...pretty much the same as keyframing in Premiere Pro but just a bit more hassle. :(

That would take a few minutes at most. Most people spend more time planing the next few seconds of an amv.

Ulead's PhotoImpact will create animations of lens flares (and other lighting effects) as a series of bitmaps that you can import into Premiere. Doesn't After Effects do this, too? It may be more sophisticated than you need, if all you want is a star-like flash off of a point. In which case all you need is a fuzzy white cross (+) that you can make with most any picture editor.

If all you want to do is move/translate/rotate the flare, maybe this will work: create the lens flare on a solid green screen, or against a transparent background if you can do PNG files. Then import it as a still into your project, key out the background if necessary, overlay it on your scene, and apply motion keyframes to move it around. Use fast fades to bring it in and out.
