Eliminating an AMV?

Post by Scandia » Thu Mar 10, 2005 7:07 am

Can you remove one of your AMVs if it gets really low ratings that you do NOT think it deserves?

I just do not want people to make fun of me or my AMVs simply because one's footage was not all that hot or whatever it is getting low ratings for.

huh well if you want to remove a video all you have to do is "Request deletion of bad video entry" in the "edit my video information"

Alot of people get bad ratings. Live with it. Theirs no point pretending your a great amv'er unless you've made a great amv.

Good luck. This site's stated mission is to be a catalogue of all AMVs ever created, bad ones and good ones alike.
So if your only reason for submitting a removal request is low scores, you're not likely to get the request approved.

Why would you use the word 'eliminate'?

Is it really THAT bad?

No it's not that bad. I downloaded it and re-watched it. Even the worst part- the footage- looks MUCH better than the footage in my early AMVs.
Plus there is lyric and even some beat sync.

I was just EXTREMELY discouraged by the first 3 people who downloaded it giving it just 1 star or 2. It may not have been my top project, but I still worked hard on it. I did not just throw in random stuff that looks garbled.

Thanks for the encouragement. Feel free to review the AMV:

Now it is rated as good as most of my other videos. Only my Beru Bara one, which is my current passion, has a much higher rating. But when the first few to watch it say it stinks, it can bring you down to the dumps.

I'd bet some of them can't watch the vid since it's listed as an mpeg2 format. You may want to encode in mpeg next time, or put something on the vid page telling what programs to watch the vid in.

You see, if I encode in MPEG-1, it truly looks HORRENDOUS. MPEG-2 looks much better.

I understand. It's just that a lot of people can't play mpeg2, so they give you 1s for the video. If you have to use that format, you should tell them how to watch the video - like using BSPlayer, Winamp 1.87, WINDVD4, etc.

You might want to try TMPGEnc for encoding to mpg, or xvid with VirtualDub. The section of the guides on compressing will tell you how to get good quality with these standard formats:
