Naruto Licensed

Ok well if whatever company gets the license will release the DVD with completely unedited Japanese and subtitled versions of Naruto, I will be very happy. I still won't like the fact that they target younger kids with an anime like this. It's a violent anime (please someone tell me about Samurai X) and the plot basically needs the fight scenes for a lot of it to make sense. The english version will suck even if they put a uncut version on DVDs. I doubt I'll buy the DVDs anyway. I think besides fearing that Naruto will suck, Naruto fans are very unhappy that a bunch of little kids will take over fandom and we will have to move on to something less cool.

Because they're idiots to be worried over something so trivial? No, seriously.Neo-Matrix wrote: If you really have gotten into Naruto then you can understand why "Narutards" are either annoyed or angry about the licensing issue.
No on is going to force anyone to watch it on t.v. Surprisingly enough, you can even change the channel! Or, you can buy the DVDs! If you've been watching it fansubbed you should have no problem with that. I never bother to watch anything dubbed.Neo-Matrix wrote: It just cannot possibly be as good in English. They're gonna screw it like they did DBZ
I hate to break this to you, but this has already happened. Many, many people hate Naruto because of how popular it has already become. And, I don't know about you, but people are still going to be making Naurto videos using the fansubbed footage when it's released on whatever, and is the Cartoon network logo in the corner actually worse than having the subtitles on the footage? To me they're both just freakin' annoying.Neo-Matrix wrote:then everyone will make AMVs with CN's logo in it and everyone will hate Naruto because it will be too popular to be any good.
This is a reason why some people find these so called "Narutards" so annoying. You're not willing to actually support it where it counts, even though you claim to be a "fan."Neo-Matrix wrote:and YES I want Naruto for free!

1. I don't think the licensing is trivial, I think it matters. But that's just me (and 300K others)
2. Ignoring the fact that Naruto gets screwed doesn't mean it isn't screwed. Yes I could ignore it, but since they haven't produced it yet, I will do what I can to convince them to make the dub good.
3. Things get popular for a reason. Yes fansub AMVs suck but why don't you just not watch those AMVs? Plus my main point is that the Naruto popularity explosion hasn't even started, so just wait a few months.
4. FAN means I like it, not that I have money to spend on it.

People translate things differently. From what I've seen, the professional translaters seem to to do a better job overall.Neo-Matrix wrote:Then do a direct comparison of what Vegeta says to that Mexian Android in Super Android 13. The fansub is much different. Actually, most DBZ stuff is edited no matter what FUNimation says. Do your comparison and let me know. (I don't know about FMA, Only seen the fansubs)
1. For the most part, it's trivial. There shouldn't be a need to be angry/worried about it, especially since Viz has done a good job in the past. To be angry over your favorite anime being liscensed is almost oxymoronic.Neo-Matrix wrote:1. I don't think the licensing is trivial, I think it matters. But that's just me (and 300K others)

2. You, and the "300k" others can do a damn thing about how good the dubbing. Everyone has a different opinion on how good a dub is, and the company that does the dubbing will attempt to hire the voice actors that they think will do the best they can for the characters that they've been hired to play.
3. ROFL

4. You just want to have your cake and eat it too. It's that simple. You're used to not paying for it for the last 100 or so episodes, so why should you have to pay now?

Actually... Naruto looks pretty good for something for younger kids.. whatever they show to the kids though.. they'll edit it for sure.. aside from the violence.. naruto seems to have this quality that reminds me of dbz and pokemon.Neo-Matrix wrote:I still won't like the fact that they target younger kids with an anime like this.

The skeptics slowly crawl out.
"This is gonna suck!" - they say.
OF COURSE IT'S GONNA SUCK.
It's gonna suck if you continue approaching all this with such an attitude. Naturally, high expectations will ruin it for you.
This is why I suggest dropping them altogether and giving the show a chance before passing judgement. This hasn't even gone to the dubbing studios yet, forget CN.
Relax.
This IS a show that has been made for a younger audience, even if it has some notably serious themes. This IS a show that has been made for a mainstream market, and trying to subvert it underground is denying its' creators the high degree of popular and financial success it probably deserves.
All will be good once it gets to the US.
CN will have Naruto marathons. Wal-Marts will be chock full of action figures shortly thereafter. Video games will be translated or newly made, and a big-time card game is soon to follow. It'll work its' way to the big screen before long. McDonalds will hand out headbands with their McRamen Happy Meals. Soccer moms will be raging over kids stabbing each other in ferocious ninja-bouts. There will be a new brand of shampoo, and Mentos will have a new spokesperson.
But let's not deny the new generation a chance to grow up madly loving ninjas, like mine did
