I hate this

Post by dragoon38900 » Sun Jan 30, 2005 6:28 pm

Ok, I just got an opinion for this video

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=60718

Look at the opinions, the one with all 5s. Ok, I dont know if its a problem with my video or its the problem with the poeple's computers playing the video. It seems that It lags for some reason on this video, and for me sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt, BUT only on 2 parts. Can someone help me here and figure out whats wrong? The other person that gave the other opinion seemed like he watched it just fine.

P.S. DONT YOU HATE IT WHEN SOMEONE GIVES AN OPINION LIKE THAT!?!?! 5s in a row without a reason to show....ryhmes  :x

1) What were the comments the person left?
If the 5's are well-explained and justified, then I wouldn't complaing.

2) Explain the how and what of the way you encoded the video and audio for this. That should give us an idea of what may have gone wrong.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Good Looks like it would/could have been good.

Bad It lagged considerably like you mentioned. It was almost impossible for me to watch the video through. I dont know what the problem could have been that caused this but I find this was the only major downfall.

General Looked great, and I was anticiapting something good, but the skipping of the video was a disheartening. Other than that it looked great!

There, thats what it said...

As for how I encoded it, I used WMM 2.1, and used Windows Media profile editor(very dangerous for me using something i dont understand completely) and put on these settings:

Audio- Windows media audio 9.1
Video- ISO MPEG-4 Video-V1

3000 kbps:
720x480
Frame Rate 29.97 fps
key fram interval: 3 sec
Video bit rate- 2799k bps
buffer size 5 seconds
video smoothness 55 (balanced)
Audio Format- 192 kbps, 48 kHz, stereo CBR

NTSC (29.97/30 fps)
Allow non spuare pixel output

Thats all, but if you have any other specific questions, please ask.

I agree it is annoying when reviewers give ANY scores without really explaining them, although its more irritating when they're low marks, because it doesn't give you real good avenues of improving. In any case, my only suggestion is to get more opinions. I left you one for the heck of it. ^_^

Dose the footage that you used have the same frame rate as the one you choose when you import it?

I had the same problem as you and that was the major problem.
If so just change the frame rate when you export your video to match the frame rate of your footage.

That is my guess....
I hope this information helps you...

Whats the big F***ing deal? maybe he/she just thought it sucked, and that you could do better. you could use his/her opinion to encourage yourself to make a better video, rather than just bitch because someone thught lowly of it.

You were given a reason for the opinion. Personally, I think the opinion is better reasoned than your puerile numbers rant.

Well, since the person did give a reason, and he did try to watch the video, you might reply to him and prod a little for more reasons. Like originality. Ask him if the lagging problem made the video less original (bad enough for a 5). Ask him if the lagging problem made the capture quality bad (bad enough for a 5). It sounds like the only real problem he had with the video is the playback - that would explain low scores for action sync (if it's lagging, the sync is screwed), overall, and reviewable - possibly audio quailty if the song skips with the lagging footage. But the capture quality and originality shouldn't be affected by a playback problem of this type. Just explain that in your response.

Most of the time when a video doesn't play right, people will review with low scores and tell you about it. If you fix the problem and replace the video, tell him and he'll probably be willing to download the fixed version and update the scores.

If you do fix it, use the 'delete request' to replace the video. A good way to fix it would be to use a more 'general' compressor like TMPGEnc - that way people can help you if it turns out strangely. We also have guides for that program, so it'd be easier to use.

Ok, take a look at the person's profile first before you say that.
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... r_id=71921
This is his first opinion, and hes probably a noob at this sort of thing and doesnt know how to opinionize correctly. Sure he was a member since 2003, but considering he only made 1 opinion...do you really think he goes on the site often? Also, Arigatomina is correct to what he said, why does things such as effort or originality gets effected
Im pretty sure this kind of stuff occurs all the time because of ignorant noobs.

As for the video, yea ive used TMPGEnc, but it kinda messes the video a little(remember i have to compress it with WMM 2.1) and it pixelizes some places which is ugly.....I dont know if im using it correctly, but maybe I should change the bitrate to 2.1, instead of 3. Ill figure it out...

You were given a reason for the opinion. Personally, I think the opinion is better reasoned than your puerile numbers rant.
Yes, and the reason is clear to me, but that reason does not support the fives enough. The video quality and audio is much better than a 5. Dont you understand what Im trying to say here? Or are you clueless? Just look at his profile, and look at what he wrote, and the scores...
