Anime Detour 2005 AMV Contest
Anime Detour is looking for AMV contest entries! We've just extended the contest dead line to Feb. 14th to allow extra time for submissions. Attendance at the convention is preferred, but not necessary for entering the contest. The rules can be found here (but ignore the Feb. 1st deadline listed, we're still getting around to updating the page). We're short on entries and the deadline is coming up fast, so if you or anyone you know would like to enter please don't hesitate to do so!
Any questions can be posted here, or sent to myself. Anime Detour, for anyone who doesn't know, is being held March 11-13th in Bloomington, Minnesota.

I plan to enter one or two, just for fun, since I'll be there again.
Biggest rush I've had in years having my amv played for the audience.
Do you know if WMV files are acceptable, it's the codec my files are in since I use movie maker. I really don't like trying to convert them if I don't have to.

Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

I thought Movie Maker would export with Microsoft's DV codec? If so, then that will give you better quality than the WMVs (assuming your source footage is up to par). Three minutes of DV will fit on a single CDROM. Anything larger, you'll need to burn on a DVDROM, or else span across two CDROMs.Files may be AVI or MPEG. Other formats, such as Realmedia, will be rejected....The preferred AVI output codec is DV or HuffYUV.

Problem is my amvs are already finnished in wmv. Some articals I've read call wmv an avi codec, may not be true. I would think that any media player they use would run wmv files. I guess I'll either have to ask them or try converting my files to mpeg2 like I did last year.TaranT wrote:I thought Movie Maker would export with Microsoft's DV codec?
