Ahhh, never mind that last statement; it seems they have removed it. They used to have a Non-Anime category, but I guess they didn't want to encourage it anymore. Probably a means of cutting down bandwidth costs by keeping it to official anime only.

Nowhere to put my non-anime ideas. And there were so many great Teen Titan music videos too...

You could try other websites devoted to non-anime fanvids._Ice-Angel_ wrote:It's understandable... but still... blaaaaaaaah.Nowhere to put my non-anime ideas.
(I know they're there because other people have linked to them in the past, but I've never saved the URLs, so I don't have them now.)

Re: meep
A lot of people don't seem to realize this but the non-anime entries you find in the anime list are entered not by the site itself but by other members._Ice-Angel_ wrote:Ahhh, never mind that last statement; it seems they have removed it. The song list seems even worse... Try looking for songs by Artists starting with "I" in 'Search by Artist'. You will see a lot of variations of "I Don't Know"

I don't understand.
In order to be eligible for the contest, I have to delete all my non-anime videos? And I'm required to have every video I EVER MADE entered in the catelog?
Excuse me, but that seems REALLY unfair. What do my other videos have to do with the eligible AMVs I made this past year? Why are those rules required for completely unrelated videos to be eligible?
Is this some sort of punishment for people who entered non-anime videos or decided to only post a few videos here? A way of forcing people to remove non-anime work, and to make them catelog videos they didn't want to? What kind of "contest" does that make this?
That's some messed-up underhanded blackmail. I'm not surprised almost all the AMVs on this site are still disqualified despite the warnings. If non-anime videos aren't allowed anymore, just say so. Don't resort to sneaky tactics like this.

How is it unfair? This isn't fanvideos.org - It's animemusicvideos.org.
The page shoudl be used to catalog fan made music videos that are made using all or mostly anime, as defined by the site admins as JAPANESE animation, produced, directed, and made in Japan. I understand and agree that the term anime literally means any animation, but this site does not define it as such.
And since this is a privately owned website, the admins can make rules like this.
And since they are making people delete those non-anime vids from the catalog, you have to do it or not compete. That's the rules.
If you ask me, it's a good thing. It's purifying the catalog more. If people want to compete, they have to purify the catalog of their non-anime vids, thus bringing the site closer to what it's intended purpose is.
Am I wrong?

Well the site is called animemusicvideos.org for a reason. That is probably the most obvious hint as to what one should expect to find on this site.Dejana wrote:I don't understand.

And that's just for the catalogue. Never mind the uploading. You should only enter videos that meet the following criteria:
You yourself created the video. You should not enter videos that were created by someone else.
The video is an anime music video. For the purposes of this site, an anime music video is defined as a music video where the majority of the footage comes from anime. For the purposes of this site, anime-style video gamecut scenes (such as Final Fantasy) are considered "anime".
The video has been completed. It is perfectly fine to enter the video information of a completed video that has not premiered, has not been released to the public yet, or is not even available for download.
I don't see see any sneakery happening here.
Because the catalogue is meant to have only anime music videos, the only vids you've made that apply are the ones that fit the criteria. Not EVERY video you've made.

They have said so, numerous times in the past.Dejana wrote:If non-anime videos aren't allowed anymore, just say so.
As someone already pointed out:
The Enter New Video page wrote:You should NOT create a new video entry if the video meets any of the following criteria:
1. The video is not an anime music video. Videos that are made up entirely of footage other than anime should not be entered into the catalog.

This rule would be eligable for the "Rookie of the year" and "Editor of the year" awards, since they take into consideration everything you've done this year. If people only entered their best videos into the catalog and none of their crappier (for lack of a better word) ones, that would make that kinda unfair for these 2 positions wouldn't you say?
