Have your videos been overshadowed by other vids you've made
I've been wondering after you create a video that becomes known does your following video suffer in the sense that it gets over shadowed by your previous video. Example Fighting For Your Love has 500 + downloads, but Belldandy's Memoires has a little under 300 downloads. There's about a 2 month difference. Then the latest video Over Dramatic Uber Sentimental Outlaw Star Music video has 82 Local Downloads and its been a month. I mean I hear alot of talk about Fighting For Your Love, but hardly hear anything about Belldandy's Memories. Yes both vids have high amount of ops. As for ODUSOSMV this video I think I'll have to give it more time before I decide to say it is getting over shadowed. Am I making any sense here. I don't know if I'm talking in circles or not.
It's been a long night, takes forever burning a dvd of Music videos.

dont focus on if others like em
if you like your own videos, then it doesnt matter if anyone else does or not...
Heed the siren call of online popularity.

Seriously though, I do sometimes think about getting better and not getting stuck in a particular genre/editing style, but that's just a personal goal.
The better you get the more unreasonable constantly improving quality/popularity becomes. Do you think Koop made Euphoria and then said, "well that was popular... Might as well not even try this 'soul glo' idea." No (and I'm glad he didn't, Soul Glo is awesome.) In Flint's case his first video in the catalog is my personal favorite, does that mean the others are unworthy? Of course not.

I'm fucking glad anyone is watching ANY of my videos... I'm not really concerned one will be more popular than the other.
I would say I consider them like my daughters but. That would mean Prescott would be the one beating up kids at school, lost would be the lonely depressed one and Game go go would be the cheer leader.

I think that if I ever get into that recognizable category of creators, it'll probably end up being 'Oh, he's the one that did that How Not To Be Seen video.'
Not to say I don't actually like that vid, but it's popularity is very disproportionate to the others that I feel are superior. Not to mention the reviews that keep urging me to make more comedy vids. It's just not that easy for me. Although I probably should be proud of the fact I actually made a video that many people have wanted to op without it being from an op thread.

I'm actually surprise anyone even sees them.
Thus far though, I would say my distribution in terms of quality/downloads as opposed to newness/downloads has been more than fair, so I wouldn't complain at all.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Well according to star ratings my second and third amv did that to me and almost completely shut out all other videos I have made so far. However when I look at opinions I know some of the later ones smash the older ones because I grew as a creator. Also remember people's likes and dislikes changes over time. I remember when my newer videos completely sucked to others but now they are doing okay. As far as me it doesn't matter because I hold mini contests with myself. I have personal favorites so when the averages match up with those expectations I am happier. When they don't I wait for the next round. I won't give up on the underdog videos either because it's my work, I like them, and I'm sure someone out there will take a gander and like them as well. I'm still going to make amv shorts even if people think they suck. Why? Because it is fun to do. Viva la overshadowed!

I get this a lot, usually from very simple videos that just seem to appeal to the general viewer more than my more complicated ones (aka, better in terms of editing, capture quality, sync). I take it as a given. Most of my long-term favorite vids are older ones, and while I might glance at the newer ones by those creators, they almost never replace my favorites.
As an example, I like Castor Troy as an editor - I enjoy watching his vids and I think his newest vids are better than his earlier ones. Despite that, I'd rather watch Haunted Ship than any of his new videos. It's just my favorite, and if I can only watch one of his vids, that's the one I inherently go to.
If it's a matter of where do the new members (new viewers) go - they're more likely to go to a video that looks popular. So instead of getting the newer (and better) videos, they'll go toward the ones that have more ops, higher stars. Most people are encouraged to go to the top lists to find videos when they join the site - and most of those videos are the older ones. It takes time to get up there now that it's ranked according to the number of ops, so new vids have to work harder to get attention compared to the older ones.
