SUPER VID 2004 IS UP AND ACTIVE

Post by J.Alana » Fri Jan 07, 2005 1:42 pm

Hello all

Just to let you know SUPER VID 2004 is finally up and active.

The link is as follows for the video

http://www.jpproductionsonline.net/2005 ... 202004.avi

right click on it and hit save target as. You can also view the a-m-v.org look at http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=56252

We hope that you enjoy this video. We know its taken a while to get on the org and that's because both myself and Krillin the Villin had family emergencies to attend to.

I'm sure you would understand if I said above all else my family is my primary obligation as is Krillin's family.

So we apologize for the delay it took and we hope that you enjoy this video.

We also realize the file size is well.....huge. We had no way around that. In order to preserve quality and sound we had to do that way. Keep in mind uncompressed the video is well over 500mb this is the compressed version that you are seeing.

Take care

and we hope you enjoy this video

best regards,

J

I just saw it...

overall you had some good matchups, but you have a lot of effects that aren't used well (the color spectrum was good at some parts but most of the time it wasn't too good). Also, action sync is off and inconsistant for a good portion of the time. And the quality of your footage is not very good, with some (evangelion) having their aspect ratios messed up. You have a lot of black bars and edges that should have been cropped off also. And the audio was lacking also.

While I was watching the project, the transitioning between each track seemed to be out of place, and oftentimes I'd meet an unexpected ending. And the general ideas of a good deal of the tracks don't strike me as anything hilarious. You may want to stay away from some intro titles as well...

It was an alright project, but it has unfortunately many errors. I'm sorry, I feel really bad for writing this now. :(

Yeah

First up Maverick I have to ask you where you thinkt he aspect ratio is out of whack

Throughout the entire vid the video was set at 640 x 480 resolution with a lock on aspect ratio of 4:3

Keep in mind though that one person did not rip all their own footage. Each person was resposnible for a specific tme index and music to work it with.

So when you say the aspect ratio messed up? What do you mean exactly?

Also, I was wondering where you thought the sound was off it was encoded at 440000 khz and it used my SoundBlaster Audigy 5.1 card to do it.

Maybe the surround sound is what threw you off.

starting at 04:56 and thereafter you stretched End of Evangelion upwards. By aspect ratios getting messed up I didn't mean have different ARs switching now and then, I mean that you literally messed up Eva's. If you wanted to have the same AR here, try cropping off from the edges as well so it looks more normal (less skinny).

The song in the intro I've recognized from hearing quite a bit, and I recalled it being in much better quality... you can even admit it sounds a bit fuzzy if you listen closely. It's not HORRID, but it isn't perfect.

"How to Survive," the first track with DragonBallZ, was even worse quality. It had somewhat a clipping effect where the yelling seemed strangely distorted (if you want to know what clipping is, Scintilla showed me a lovely sample a little while ago ;) ).

The second track with Blood was good, but the third afterwards is one of the worst sounding, it gets very distorted and fuzzy on the drum hits. Overall the video has a noticeable quality drop.

Where did you rip the audio from? Since final compression doesn't seem to be the problem here, but your source.

Um... you do mean 44.1 kHz (= 44100 Hz), right?

Okay too many zeros. lol

Ah I see what you mean.

You could turn down the speakers somewhat to give you the desired effect.

Most people have said the sound is not off at all. In fact, on my system is sounds really good.

I used a 292 mp3 of DJ Kronix's 1970's Disco Party. It was really cool. Its actually about 27 minutes long but its just mixed with all diffferent types of seventies songs.

For each segment each person was given a time index and isolated that part specifically to work with.

Ex. I Will Survive.

That we felt was the best way to conduct this project so we could get the desired effect that we were looking for.

Mainly this video is not about being perfect. Its about having fun. It was something we've always wanted to do and basically, we did it.

Now we know that its our first multi editor project. Okay, mistakes were made but we still fun doing this project and personally I love it.

A lot of people have said that it jams well and it was a fun video to watch.

So aside from some of the aspect ratios missing and whatnot, it was a cool segment.

Not all segnments were "great" but most were really cool and I had a ball working on it.

Yeah I did that purposely. I was going for kind of "annoy you to death" feel with that because I felt it was kind of funny to make Bulma scream.

man, i had time to shave while that puppy was dling, scarey

NEway, thankfully this thread didn't turn into a flame-war (i'm proud of you guys)
so i dled and watched the video and i think i can agree with the majority of the statements made

Video Quality for file size left something to be desired, although there were some good quality scenes and no doubt you had HQ footage, the final compression may have hurt the video's quality and it lost a lot of sharpness, the Love Hina segment is a good example of the video quality problem (also an example of the AR problem/letterbox)
but pixelation (fuzziness) was a problem throughout the video

Audio Quality, i wasn't bothered by it, by like people have said, no one is saying it's bad, it's just not perfect, but audio is almost never a big issue, it's either good enough to use or not, and this was good enough, just wish you had a better source to get a better end product

Action Sync of course varied from segment to segment, some were better synced (sync was easier to notice) than others so i dont' know how to comment on this one without typing a whole lot... :?

Favorite Parts
I Will Survive- bulma singing to vegeta, i thought it was pretty creative how you had her going off on vegeta for leaving and expecting he could come back to her (not the real story, but that's why it's creative)
timing was pretty decent, kept the pace going well with the lyric's progression
(just had way too many flashing colors... but it's disco... so [shrug])
Shake Your Grove Thing- probably my favorite part, mainly due to 7:59-8:02 (looks like One Piece), man that dude knew how to get down XD
lots of good actual dancing/fun scenes instead of the usual 'fighting made to look like dancing' scenes

Least Favorite Parts
Silver Leaves Segway- i guess cause it was a very short instrumental segment that for some reason had 3 different anime in it... and Blood just seemed out of place, but because of the vibe of that small segment, i can definately see why it was used, just that it's style clashed with the style of the rest of the segments
Silver Leaves- just wasn't digging the violent scenes done to the cheery/cheesey musik
(kinda sounded like the theme to 'That Girl'... lol, now THAT would have been kule)

sorry ur getting flack j, but we're all just trying to help out and hopefully the other creators will find some time to post later on to add further comments to the discussion, lord knows you can't speak on behave of any segments outside of ur own

btw, i noticed you had ur trademark 2 minute credits -_-
(chases j with a stick)
If you're reading this, you've gone too far...PREPARE FOR RETRIBUTION!!
Don't judge an AMV by it's anime.. u nooB ;D

The download took too long not to write something about it. So here goes. I pretty much have to agree with Maverick and Daio Kaji. Video quality is the main problem despite a huge filesize: pixelation (especially in Sailor Moon footage), some interlace and a single DBZ orphan frame @5:08  . The GITS segment felt out of place, and 2:30 credits in 11 minute long video are a bit too much. Apart from that it was decent with some above average moments (Bulma&Vegeta scene).
