I plan on actually finishing a few videos I started earlier...entering a few cons...and hopefully making it to one con inparticular this year ^^

other than that..

My bad. I had to recall basic high school geography: Europe extends as far as the Urals. Physically, that is. Culturally...that's subject to debate.

The convention scene for 2005 could be interesting, at least w.r.t. AMV contests. Now that Quu has left the scene, several contests have a large workload to pick up. Otakon seems to be at most risk. There are rumors of changes at AWA. Both Sakura-Con and Anime Boston are under "new management". AX is...well, it's AX. Shoujocon appears to still be in limbo. And the whole Kunicon experiment will be worth watching, especially if they continue handing out those absurdly expensive prizes.

Yes.. 2004 was a year for multi-editor-projects to stand out. I think this'll also continue in 2005. Also the instrumental-category is a good addition and I hope 2005 gives birth to many more nice instrumental AMVs ^_^b

In our finnish point of view 2004's big event was our own AnimeCon and the audience of 900+ persons in our AMV contest.

For me I'm satisfied with the two good AMVs I made this year and for the next year I promise to screw up more anime titles and make people hate more songs \^^\ \^^/ /^^/ (go me!)

Otakon's the one I'm most concerned with as well. As far as Anime Boston, I've talked to Adam (former ConChair, now the AMV Head) a *lot* about the contest. He was very receptive to our thoughts on what needed to be changed from previous years and did in fact make those changes (digital submissions, expanded categories, judged awards), so I have full confidence in his ability to pull off a great contest for AB2005.

As far as Kunicon, I don't think we actually know who won the TV, do we?

I despised 2004 and if the scene is "transitioning" into what is to become norm, then I don't want any part of it.

Clerify what do you mean "what is to become the norm"

I think the videos are getting alot better from creators that just started a year ago.

I agree with the call for clarification. Beowulf, you and your brother are two of the strongest editors in the scene, so if you have a problem with what's happening, you can change that, making a vague reference to the year sucking and the scene going downhill doesn't help anyone.

I bet it's something along the lines of "oh no, too many new people, whatever shall I do I'm no longer special"...

I'd take more confidence in the fact that he was a former ConChair. Things like FTP submission are nice, but when the day comes and pixels hit the screen, attitude and preparation are what gets the job done.
