Am I the only one who is sick of all these AMV creators who make a half-assed music vid, send it in and then say how crap it is!? First of all, there is nothing more offputting when you go to check out a new music vid and all it's creator can say about it is how bad it is. Let us decide whether it's bad or not, okay?! You just tell us what it's about and we'll let you know what we think when we submit opinions.
Another thing I'm tired of is everyone saying "Oh, this-and-this is over used" or "Oh, everyone does that". Try thinking for a second of why their 'overused'. The reason there's so many DBZ music vids is because it's such a good anime. It's exciting and there's plenty of good fight scenes, making it a perfect choice for an action vid. Also it's one of the longest anime series out there, not including all the movies made of it, so there's plenty of stuff to work with. And while we're on the subject of DBZ, would everyone stop bitching about Linkin Park being used for the vids! The reason this band is used so much is because their songs are so full of energy and they go perfectly with almost every DBZ fight.
Phew... Thanks for letting me get all that off my chest. I don't mean to offend anyone. It's just that I wish people would stop focusing on the negative aspects of music vids and just enjoy them. They are supposed to be fun after all.

Try doing this. Leave a review of all 2s and 3s and in the comments just put 'When you claimed this sucks you were right.' I suspect many will never again talk about their new video sucking after that.

You bring up some good points but there are some factors you haven't considered. For one I don't think many people are really that self depriciating aside from a few people I can think of. (*cough*STB*cough*) In fact I think there is a lot of people that could use a bit of humbleness. But I do agree that being too self depriciating can be annoying.

As for the unoriginality, you have to face some facts. Firstly, of all the crappy ass videos out there, a disporportionate number of them are DBZ videos. People tend to ignore the story, charicter, etc. and just make bad action videos, plus the animation isn't that good.

As for Linkin Park, there is a reason that people dislike them or pretend to dislike them. There is nothing inherently wrong with LP. One of my favorite action videos was an LP video that was made 4 years ago. The thing is that since then there have been 4000 more videos made, and again, most of them suck.

A lot of thease LBZ videos are made by people who are outside of the AMV comunity, therefore they do not have the peer interaction to make them better. They just keep doing the same thing and think there the best thing since sliced bread. Here we thrive on inovation, and the bar is being constantly raised.

plus the animation isn't that good.

I always thought it was great footage. Everything from the end of Freeza saga till the end of DBZ is animated well. Especially the Buu saga where the outlines are solid and thus you can easily mask out the shapes. The only downfall of the animation that I can think of are too fast moves during fights. Those sequences limit you when you want to make an action video since you wouldn't actually watch characters, just the lines moving

You make some good points, then you also fail to support some points. For instance, DBZ. Everyones hates/pretends to hate because it is such an easy show to make fun of. Here's a quick summary of a fight: 2 episodes of talking, 5 minutes fighting, "oh my god i got defeated, lets power up and train for 5 eps and make me stronger", then another ep of talking, 5 more minutes of fighting and being victorious, then a 2 ep recap.

And with Linkin Park. Yes, their music can have some energy to it, but it's such an overplayed band, and probably the most popular of the heavier pop (yes, POP) groups. Combining the two evils makes for too many vids, about 95% of which can be absolute crap, but there are some good ones. I can't remember a time when I watched DBZ that I didn't sit through the entire ep... Same with Linkin Park songs. I skip them because they're so overplayed, and I can practically sing every song lyric for lyric.

I think the only Linkin Park AMV I have is one set to Excel Saga, buy Chaosprojects, to Faint. Otherwise, I tend to avoid LP and DBZ/Naruto AMVs because, personally, I dislike series like those. I like some plot and some character development and maybe a few plot twists, but not lots of talking with only 5 minutes of fighting...

There's my 2 cents.. Oh wait, I think I spent those last night... I'm officially broke until tomorrow...
