- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Thanks, all!
Disappearing!
I've always kept making AMVs; I just have no patience and get bitchy if I stick around the forums too much, that's all.
Compression!
This version is compressed with XviD. But I had planned on having a direct link eventually anyway, so as I said before I may as well make that version with a different codec.
And this stuff: They couldn't play it because it was encoded like that. Because of that I've used 22050 Hz WAV since then. If that's what you mean.

And yeah, 12MB isn't too bad for an encode of mine. It's within that 10-MB-per-minute window, anyway.
I should read up on encoding again; that's always been my problem.
Anywho, non-encoding-problem related:
Yes, although they probably don't want to get their butts sued, Avenue Q, the musical this comes from, bears a resemblance to a certain kids' show involving puppets living in the city. I'm fairly sure the guys in this song, Rod and Nicky, are supposed to be reminiscent of Bert and Ernie.

So yeah, this was fun to make, and I'm glad some of ya were entertained. Thanks!

I noticed that, but let it slide for this one. I think I know what I'm doing wrong now, though. Next time. :pScintilla wrote:The mouth movements seemed to be a few frames behind the audio for the first verse or so, but nothing serious.
I did? I don't really know what you mean. Maybe I can learn something. Heh. All I know about audio encoding is - are - isare - WAV and MP3, and back when I encoded the sound in my AMVs with MP3 (LAME, I think), it got me disqualified from a con.One question, though... any particular reason you left the audio uncompressed? (Of course, with such a short video, it doesn't hurt the filesize that much, but just wondering.)

Yup, that is what I was referring to. Cons generally don't like MP3 audio (I think it has something to do with MP3 audio in an MPEG-2 file, but I could very well be wrong about that), but for distribution, it's basically perfectly safe to go the LAME MP3 route (because everyone and their mother has an MP3 codec on their comp, and the AVI container is fine with it).SarahtheBoring wrote:I did? But I'm not really complaining -- as I said, the file's small enough that it doesn't really matter, and because it's uncompressed, it sounds pretty much perfect (at least to me) (even at 22KHz).

Sorry, one more little nitpicky thing:
Everyone associates "WAV" with "uncompressed audio", because that's usually what it signifies. However, .WAV is really a container that can also hold compressed formats like IMA ADPCM, MS ADPCM, or even MP3 audio (as I discovered when direct-stream-copying audio from an AVI in VirtualDubMod and selecting "Save as .WAV").
Technically, the proper term to refer to uncompressed audio (in the usual format, at least) is PCM (Pulse Code Modulation).
Concerning cons (just in case):
If you're submitting an .AVI, best to leave the audio uncompressed (PCM).
If you're submitting an MPEG, use MPEG-1 Layer II audio and set the bitrate as high as you can (384kbps?).
Hope this helps.
(I also hope I'm not being rude...)

Hey, I incidentally got to see it today (thanks Moonlight Soldier), and I found it absolutely loveable

The song is quite something in itself; yea, there was a few lip-sync inconsistencies; but it's hilarious/cute, and surprisingly, the humor picks up as the video goes on, instead of fading once the unexpectedness of the song dissolves.
In other words, a job well done. I'll get it for myself when I have the chance

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
