Post by Sadame Kedojeh » Sat Aug 28, 2004 5:39 pm

Hey, if you preregister for Anime Detour 2005 before December 31st, it's only $30. 2005 is only their second convention but it rawked last year.
You should enter in their AMV contest, Phade's gonna be there. =D

I'll be getting my reg in early this year. Saving 20 bucks over the door price is a good deal. I attended the 04 con (I'm the old guy who was always asking when they were showing amvs) and it was lots of fun. The returning guests are great, Monica is a walking riot, Kyle Herbert voice of GoHan, Carrie Savage voice of Rakka in Haibene Renmei. If you attend and make amvs enter one, I did last year and about had heart failure when they played it on the big screen. I didn't expect to win anything but people cheered for mine, talk about an ego boost. I might enter another just for fun.
They had their teething problems last con, they expected abot 600 people and got over 1200. They still had people coming Sunday afternoon saying they had just heard about it. I think it will be a lot better this time around.
Hope to see you there. :D

I didn't attend last year's con, but I plan to attend this year's and enter an amv or two. Another interesting thing is that I've never been to an anime convention before, so I'm so gonna be there ^_^! Can't wait for it to come.

Anime Detour scheduled their con the same weekend that we usually hold our smaller convention, forcing us to change dates. Not going.
I host the Anime Music Video contest at No Brand Con in Eau Claire, WI.

Get your butt over to cheeseland and show me what you've got! :D

Hmmm..

Interesting enough everytime I fly to the east for a con I have to tranasfer at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport since it's the only direct flight I have from here... Are any AMV activities planned (Contest, etc)?

Kind of a random idea, but I was thinking I should bring my external hard drive to the con. From the sounds of last year, the best viewing for amv's was when Phade whipped out his laptop. So...if I bring my external, permitting theres a computer connected to a display with a USB2 port, then my personal collection of amv's (about 21 Gb right now) could be used to entertain people. I have also authored 2 dvd's currently with some of my favorites on them. I could make a copy of those to bring along. I just hope there will be more viewing time of amv's for this/next year's con .

Well, if I was to go, I would just bring the whole AMV archive in high quality mpeg2, problem is even my 500 MB FW drive array can't hold them all...

Well of course 500 Mb couldn't hold them, but I'm guessing you meant to say 500 Gb. I think an entire array of drives making out only 500 megs would be sad. Just wondering :P.

If you could, I would be happy. Maybe you should contact the people running the show, they are always looking for volunteer help. Check on their web site, http://www.animedetour.com/, you seem to have some good Ideas. They could use you. I hope they have learned some things and work out the bugs for this year. They did well for a first con, I had a great time.
