With things like religious references in Evangelion (or perhaps worse, something like Angel Sanctuary), I think you have to worry more about offending people or making them want to wage holy war against the animators than converting them...someperson wrote:There are a lot of Christian references in Evangelion (states the obvious). There really isn't anything wrong with making references, just as long as you don't attmept to convert someone.

Fun fact:
Apparently one of the directors for EVA said in an interview the main reason for the Christianity was just so the show wouldn't look like another archetypical mecha show. The guy then went on to say that, had they known it was gonna be released in the US, they probably wouldn't have gone with it (the Christian refs, I mean)

Best thing ever: <s>beef stew</s> the authors of "Children of an Elder God" finally figure out how to finish it, and then someone miraculously decides to animate it.Heero_Yuy84 wrote:The guy then went on to say that, had they known it was gonna be released in the US, they probably wouldn't have gone with it (the Christian refs, I mean)
Hey, GAINAX could use it to make even more money off of NGE, as they seem to be fond of doing. And I'd be <i>all</i> over the R1s when they came out, despite the certain 18+ rating for content.
I can dream, can't I?

hmmm, makes me wonder.... is there any anime out there that makes reference to a religion other than something Judeo-Christian?Heero_Yuy84 wrote:Fun fact:
