It isn't, most of the sillyness comes by way of Luffy, but he can be very serious at times.

Luffy is funny and light-hearted most of the time. But when he gets really serious and mad he looks psychotic.

Well Saterday was the first timeI ever seen One piece so i couldn't really say much about the orginal but I already know that the fansubs would be a hell lot better the the dubbed. I've waited so, so long just to see One piece that i dont even care what version it is weither its the chinese translated version or the japanese or even the dubbed, all i wanted to do is see it now i finally get my change. O and btw Luffy rules. O and who would name their own kid Monkey D Luffy, I mean the luffy i can see but the Monkey part is just Straight out funny.

Haha.. i got power back on finally after Francis!... but then forgot One Piece was airing yesturday. *bonks head against wall* A friend said she taped it though so I'll get to see how it turned out... Bless the friend that was buying all the boxsets.. and is letting me borrow it for an undertermined length of time. *innocent look*

I did get a chance to read the first manga and I liked it! They switched a few things around (like Luffy's past that was in a flashback in later episode actually starts off the manga). There's more details in part, though it keeps really close to the anime (or, the anime has kept really close to the manga..). If you're currently stuck with the english dub that's being released on TV, I highly reccomend looking into the manga. Think there's three or four out so far...

Monkey D. Luffy is a great name for him I think. It amused me very much. Is the Dub really calling Zoro --Ronald-- Zoro???? I know about the cigarette/lollipop, the edited out violence/blood, etc, but didn't get this confirmed.
