A few hours later, and a few drinks of Iceberg vodka with my friends and some time away from my pc, i see my sister toini looking and watching the amv i spent all that time on at my pc, of which i've never truelly seen the final version of, and she's like, "wow! that was pretty cool! I hope you make more!" and my face is now all flustered and my nerves are all wracked with stricken pain from all the stupid drinking, and you know what.......a smile draws to my face! and then i edit the amv some more, and then i get depressed then it just repeats, the whole darn cycle.....at least its a good hobby for one thing.
its not the quality of the AMV or the fact I am spending time
its the sheer content that is getting me depressed

I am using a Very Sad Sentimental Anime with a Very Sentimental song

It only shows that you don't really like to make very sad videos. I dunno, maybe you're more of a action or humour type of guy.

If you already know that, what's the point of this thread? I mean honestly, why ask if anyone else has ever felt this - as if it's some strange new phenomena. You obviously know why it happens, and that if it happens that way for those reasons, it's going to happen to anyone.

It's a sad sentimental anime - if the creator thinks it's a sad sentimental anime, and he's matching it to a song he thinks is sad and sentimental...why...chances are good the creator is going to *feel* sad and sentimental. So neat how that works out, right?

I'm not kidding. Was this a rhetorical thread?

You feel sad because the video is sad? Yeah, that happens. Just think - if you didn't think the video was sad, you wouldn't feel sad. Cause and effect, that's all this topic is about - you work on something you think is sad, so you feel as sad as you think that thing is.

If there's any person this hasn't happened to, it's because that person hasn't worked on a video he thought was sad - so he never fell into the "sad video = sad creator" loop. Where's the opening for discussion in this thread? It's a "me too" topic. Good thing it's not in General Anime.

Welcome to my world =/ I get really depressed a lot while making my serious/drama videos however, dispite the toll it take on me it shows the emotion I put into it in the final video.

Making AMV's has been my way of expressing my feelings for years, as I have trouble expressing them in words and to other people. So I just amv's as a art form to express my love, hate, depression, sadness, happyness whatever it may be.

Sometimes, and this happened with my most recent video the FMA one, during making it I often got very depressed and had toback off for a bit then come back. But the biggest catch was afterwards...I was depressed for a long after making it, I don't know why but it had a huge toll on me this time...

This wasn't the worst one, when I made Eden years ago, I was in a state of depression as well, things had happened, friends lost, family problems...so I needed to get them out...

Sometimes it's the content of the show, themes ot whatnot, sometimes it's how the shows story or events that happen hit me hard, sometimes it's just that I'm depressed and I need to get it out.

But you are not alone, I seriouly have gotten depressed sometimes, but aftwards I feel better =)

I had a solid idea for a SaiKano AMV, in my head, had the footage ripped, had the song on the timeline, and I couldn't actually go though with the video. The thought of putting all those depressing scenes one after another without any relief...gah. I immediately realized the video would be far far too sad to add to my video collection, so I stopped. I deleted the project and song....luckily, not the anime, because I was going though my music collection and found a much more upbeat yet still sad song for SaiKano....:)

(FREE IDEA: "Home" by Zero 7/SaiKano or any other bittersweet romance AMV...Hana Yori Dango might even be a better choice)

and if you want to go with a more sentimental less sad, but still sentimental aproach, I think Alphaville - Forever young matches the anime aswell. I lack the footage to do it though ;p
