I watched Case Closed for a few weeks, but the show never clicked wit me. I guess after hearing about Detective Conan in hushed tones for so many years, when I finally saw it it failed to live up to the hype. Is' basically Scooby Doo wit the added not-so-funny running gag of that one chick having every reason to think somethin is goin on wit Conan, but always dismissing it because, well, frankly then there'd be no show. It got old after 3 episodes.

Det. Conan aside, I've got a bad feeling about this other news story...

Dub or not, SMS has a lot of cursing going on (f*** being one of the more regular occurences) and given that several parts of the series are actually filmed in live-action, that would make editing the language in those scenes considerably more challenging.

(and given AS pulled Rejected when it came to the line 'Sweet Jesus!' I don't see the time travel episode surviving well, what with the President's looped 'Holy Mary, mother of God!')

Can't Cartoon Network's Adulk Swim just rate Super Milk-chan show a TV-MA? Correct me if I'm wrong but South Park got away with a couple religious jokes and somewhat vulgar humor, and it was rated TV-MA.

Not likely...for two reasons:

1. Adult Swim, in spite of its name, is still on Cartoon Network, and, as such, the watch dogs kind of (for some reason) feel the need to hold it to a higher standard (remember that one parenting group that tried to rake them over the coals for FLCL?)
2. Even with a TV-MA I doubt it...remember...Matt and Trey had to do some serious string pulling to get away with even 'shit'...another case in point of this comes with the network broadcasts of 'Reservoir Dogs'...they were able to get away with airing the whole thing almost completely uncut, the catch was that 'Fuck' had to go...everything else was allowed but that...I have a feeling Milk-chan's repeated use of 'fuck' wouldn't be acceptable (...although, they COULD pull an SP and beep it...people'd still know what was being said and the watchdogs could theoretically back down.)

Actually, under the current laws setup by the FCC, thanks to the TV rating system an optional V-chips, cable networks are ALLOWED to show just about anythingthey want. Hence Comedy Central showing the unedited southpark movie just about every week on sundays.
The reason most networks don' so this is because sponsers don't like it, but I looking at the current adult swim sponsers, I think they'd be able to get away wit it.

Be able to? Yeah, maybe...but would they actually risk it is the question (remember, they may be AS, but if 'Sweet Zombie Jesus!' isn't allowed, I don't see them readily accomodating for 'There's an opening on my shit list between Spielberg and Geffen!')

Frankly, Adult Swim doesn't seem to risk much. I mean they do this and that, but in the end they seem to be a 14-year-old kid's program block, rather than whatever else it claims to be. But I guess that's just the way it is, it sure beats having nothing at all.

...wow...and ADV went to the trouble of actually making it more accessible to American audiences, so AS is just going to go back to the format that's mainly only going to be effective with hard-core Otakus...
