Don't worry about it, I had perfect marks for professional letter-writing in my 1st-year writing course

Besides, it sounds like he's done a good job.

As for the contest, it sounds like it continues to develop. I mean, they've actually moved it to a bigger hall this time. I'm hoping they give it a bigger time slot next year though, I mean, it's probably the most popular/well-attended single event in the whole con (at least it was the years that I've been there). It would only be reasonable
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

One they never recieved my amv or two they forgot to send me an email that I requested them to do when they recieved my amv. Just because I have never sent an amv by mail out of the country that is. At least they could post a list or something that is offical. I'm little flustered that my video didn't get shown if that's the case. Oh well what can you do.
They didn't e-mail you, but he doesn't *have to* if it's not specified in the rules or whatever. It's also probably a given he had a lot work to do for the contest and was too busy.

I certainly hope this isn't just you complaining because your video was cut since people don't like sore losers :P. It happens to everyone and it's just part of the process of competing.

As Will and others have said, if you're going to mail him, be as polite as possible. It's not like he gets paid for this.

BTW congrats on the win Will!

I'm pretty sure none of us got emailed letting us know they got our videos, I don't know if that helps or not :?:

According to Will (congrats again), about 60-80% of the videos submitted did not get shown?

Yeah, alot of the videos were'nt shown so I can understand your frustration. The who competition did seems pretty budget to me, but I'll take William's word that the co-ordinator was constrained with what he could do.

Still I wonder if there's anything we (fans / creators) can do to let CN Anime now, how important the AMV comp is to the con. I mean aside from the Masquerade (sp) there really isn't anything special about the con.

What do you guys think?

This was my first time at CNanime and it wasn't quite like other anime cons ... it's much more corporate. It's part of the "Canadian National Expo" - http://www.hobbystar.com It's also a SCI-FI, Comic Book, and horror genre show at he same time. THe dealers room was split up among these things. They also had guests from Star Trek, the comic and horror industry. THey ran at VERY limited hours (like 5-8 on Fri., then 10-8 Sat. and 10-6 Sun. or something like that.) It's my understanding that they also had an area for industry personell and several industry schmoozing events. The fan programming is fiarly thin compared to other pure anime cons like Anime North or the ones I"m familiar with in the states - Otakon, Anime Weekend Atlanta, Katsucon, etc.

I wouldn't get too worried over it. If you want to be shown or in contests I would look towards other cons with more established AMV contests, like Animethon (which Vlad does the contest for) or Anime North which keeps improving each year (if your interested in Canadian cons.) I only submitted my NieA video and went because ABe was a guest there (meeting him was a dream come true.)

Yeah, I agree it was very comercialized, It was my first time there too. I usually go to Anime North, I was just thrown off by the whole "Biggest Anime Event in Canda" tagline.

Meeting Abe was awesome though. I usually don't care to meet any of the guests at cons, but I was excited to meet him. I got him to sign my Texnolyze boxset, and my Lain: Reset DVD.

Utena - Fear
NGE Advance Wars 3 - Best Comedy
Delerium - Best Other
Alluminums Studios - Neia_7 - Best of Show
Naruto - Wake my up inside - Best Drama
??? - Go (I didn't know this anime or band, this was a really fast song, though)
Kenshins Lovesong
Naruto - Madonna - Frozen
Full Metal Panic - ??

That's all I can remember but there were a few more.

#1 - Naruto - Frozen
#2 - ??? from Delacruz (there was no title for that one)
#3 - Kenshin - Love Song
#4 - Destruction dive
#5 - Fear
#6/7 - Delirium (not sure about the order between 6-7)
#7/6 - Dysphoria
#8 - NGE - Advance wars 3

And don't forget Anime Evolution in Vancouver... The only Canadian and West Coast con to have it's own dedicated AMV Room!

I should have named that amv "???". I wonder what they
actually showed (I wasn't there), as the video simply starts
with "3... 2... 1... go". The song is "Go" by Blink-182, the
anime is Tokyo Godfathers. I'm very surprised it
was shown, actually. It is short, OK for filler I guess.
