I *LIKE* G Gundam, dangit. :P

I used DBZ as a referrent because, if this person wants Gundam series to watch, how much 70s giant robot animation do you think they've watched....:)

Anyways, if you want to see the two I reccomended you should at least know most of the stry beforehand, wether or not that means watching the whole Gundam 0079 seriese or just reading up a little, is up to you...
I know what you mean...god why is there no edit button?

oh and backstory always makes a show better.

Touche...call it a reflex (...seen WAY too many people comparing it to DBZ in a derogatory sense...)

I've seen almost if not all the gundam series (why my screen name is gundammrw) and by far I think my favorite is Gundam Zeta. It has alot of the action that the later gundams have and the polictical views. Added in is the majority of the original Gundam cast minus the over saturated drama.

Just about every Gundam fan in the states started with Wing, for it was the most publicly availible at the time. (The MSG movies were released before Wing in the states, but were not very well known at the time.) So I recomend you start with that.

But whatever you do, avoid G-Savior like the plague. Even though the mechs are really cool, the story is not all that good. Not to mention it's live.

This is true, the last 1-20 minutes have a cool Mech battle, but the rest is total crap

This approach is kind of a double-edged sword though...there've been quite a few people that got started with Wing and then snubbed the older series for not having as up-to-date animation by comparison.

However you do it is your business, but I'm just warning you.

Added fun fact concerning G-Saviour: Supposedly, since it was such a failure in so many regards, Sunrise in Japan has moved to have it stricken from the Gundam franchise. (To be fair, they could probably get away with it too, since they never actually use the term 'Gundam' in the movie)

I see your point Heero. But most of the fans I've met don't care much about the lack of DC (Digital Coloring) or old school animation. But there are some that do. Yes, you are right about G-Savior there that Sunrise and Bandai have "Disowned" it.

I would recommend:

G Gundam- it’s fun and funny. Seen the different countries Gundam's in just hilarious plus it has a back story like every Gundam.

Gundam Wing- some think it’s bloated and overrated. However so many people getting immersed into a single anime so much for so long prove it can't be worthless.

Gundam Wing Endless Waltz- it’s one my favorite Gundam movies, truly worthwhile.

The Gundam series is almost endless, so the chance of anyone finding one in particular to like is high.
Well, unless you hate mecha.
