Subtitled or Dubbed Inuyasha...?

Post by Miroku_KunxSango » Fri Aug 20, 2004 8:54 pm

I started watching Inuyasha dubbed at night on Adult Swim. After about 2 weeks an episode once a night 4 nights a week just wasn't enough. I have a Cartoon field near me where they rent Inuyasha in Japanese with subtitled. I rented up until episode 90, and then I just watched the English to see what the difference was. (And because I just love watching it). I think I actually like the subtitled better. Inuyasha is the best dubbed anime I've ever watched, but I liked the Japanese.
For instance, when Kagome called Kouga, Kouga-Kun, Inuyasha got mad and it was great. It's just different. Inuyasha's character seems meaner  in Japanese too, so the cute parts are even sweeter.
If you can, you should definately see the subtitled.

What do you think?

When it comes to high quality dubs, like Inu Yasha, I prefer the english. No reading and no pausing for reading. The expection is if I have already seen the lion's share of the series in Japanese. Then no one sounds right. Example: Naruto could come out as the best dubbed anime ever, but I'll still watch in Japanese simply because those are the voices I relate to the characters.

well i havnt seen the dubbed version yet & to be honest i dont really want to....because i know that the dubbed voice actor that does inuyasha is the same person that does ranma...& i really didnt like his voice...so i wouldnt be suprised if he wasnt better with inuyasha....but anyway thats just my opinion & im fluent japanese which may also be a bias reason towards dislikin dubbed series......but some series where i thought the dubbed was much better than the subbed are nadesico & golden boy......for me its all about how enthusiactic the seiyuu is towards the character & make it work... most series ive seen the japanese has pulled this off much better than the english...doesnt mean to say that they're crap....its ok if i havnt seen the subbed version & so cant make a comparison

And not have a clue what's going on. Sadly we're not all skilled in the Japanese language.

Anyway, either is fine by me. The dub ain't bad, but I love Inuyasha's Japanese VA.

Inu dub is high quality? :?
I'm usually a dub watcher but, I prefer subs when it comes to that anime.

Truthfully I always like the original subtitled version, well most times.
May give some dubs a pass over because I find them funny or whatever.
Just like the original better overall in all cases; even though I may love a dub this is not the norm.

Yeah....subtitles all the way.....
I don't like the pronounciation of names and such in the dub. It just sounds dumb. I mean, the Ocean Group did an awesome job....but I guess the voice actors just couldn't get it right.....

Plus the voice for Kagome is like nails on a chalkboard to me..... :x
