a good or bad idea?
i just order the complete hellsing dvd set used for $12. new it would of cost $100. at first this mite seem like a good idea. but, i got an other anime cheap but it had no english translation. i dont know what will happen, i need to put more thinking into the things i get. what do you think? should i be reckless or pre-think about things i buy then it comes to anime?

as with buying all stuff i research and if i can ask questions on whos selling it, that way i know wat i pay for, but that does sound familer people buy the wrong dvds in the first place (with no english translation) then try to sell it to other people so it wasn't a total waste.

He's right on that one. If you get it for free, you're neutral! You're not putting money in the pockets of the terrorists! Ya know, in a way, you're actually helping to protect our country! In my own way, l'd like to thank all of you here that DL their anime, and not giving rise to our nation's enemies!RootHubController wrote:Or, Download all the footage for free. You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.

Because you get much better quality, no hard subs (not really an advantage if you manage to find OGMs for download), multiple audio tracks (ditto), a nice shiny DVD in a well-packaged case, and extras.RootHubController wrote:Or, Download all the footage for free. And DVD is... NOT this? I'd have to agree that DVDs are great, but the memory of ADV's fiasco with hard-subbing Eva is fresh in my mind... along with other incidents. And well-packaged is questionable. I like the Scanavo cases now being used by Brandai / ADtV but some of them have been just downright wrong. Case of a batch of \.hack\/\/SIGN (I have the series from Brandai) - volume 3 had that ugly hub with the 4 little hooks and the stamped "PRESS CENTER TO RELEASE DISC" in the corner. I'd rather have a Amaray!Scintilla wrote:Because you get much better quality, no hard subs (not really an advantage if you manage to find OGMs for download), multiple audio tracks (ditto), a nice shiny DVD in a well-packaged case, and extras.RootHubController wrote:Or, Download all the footage for free. Most discs are good, including my copes of Angelic Layer and Aa Megamisama. Let's hope they continue this streak.
Response to RootHub:
Remember, Matroska is only a container, the algorithm you use if up to you. But Windows Media offers a comprehensive solution of WMV container with TONS of goodies at minimal overhead, Windows Media 9 Series algorithms including 9-channel Surround (theoretically unlimited), Dolby support, player, server, and more.
Not to be a MS zealot, but deploying open source does have more administrative overhead, and not to mention more insecurity due to the config complexity. Want to have a complete, partially-open-source DJ solution without having to know about .htaccess files? Set up Windows Server 2003 with tight integration between everything. Login to WinMedia website and just drop the files right in! Easy!
