Various Problems With Mozilla Firefox Browser

Post by Yogurtron » Sun Jul 25, 2004 5:48 am

Greetings,
I enjoy using Firefox as opposed to IE, but it does not always agree with the animemusicvideos.org.

One thing I particularly enjoyed, was never having to log in. In IE, I was always logged in, when I wanted to download a Local video, I'd just click on it, I'd see the make a donation page, then after that one, the download page. Here, I'd tell it to save my password (with the little checkbox), it would not do so. I would be brought to a logon screen, where I'd have to type it in, then when I do, it would bring me to the members page. I'd have to go "back" on my browser a couple of times back to the orriginal page with the "local" link, click it there, then the donation page, and all would work well. Why does Mozilla not remember passwords even though it is told to?

This also happened with the forums as well, similar differences from IE as listed above.

Also, when I occasionally load up pages on the ORG (usually this happens to only the main page, and the members page) it would look like this:

The lack of formatting on the sides and problems with the standard background seems to be gone. The weirder part of this, is that it only happens SOMETIMES.

Anyway though, I didn't put all of this up to complain, but I think it woudl be good to bring incompatibilities with other browsers up to the webmaster. If anybody has a way to fix these problems locally, please, submit :D

Thank you for your time.

I dunno -- I use Firefox all the time, and I've never experienced any of those errors. It's worked fine since v0.8 or so; I'm on v0.9.2 now.

The first error has to do with your cookies configuration. The second error is the default .org stylesheet not being loaded.

Oh, and don't use JPEG for screen captures. Use PNG. :P

That's not a Mozilla problem I don't think.
I've had that problem with Netscape, IE, Firefox, and Opera. It still won't remember my god damn password. It's been doing it since '03 and as far as I know, I'm the only one to have the damn problem (like this anyway).
Oh well.

Try uninstalling firefox and removing and reinstalling it.

This happens on the firefox on here and my other computer as well, so the chances of it being fixed with a reinstall is slim. I'm using 0.9.2 right now, and yeah, still problems. I'll try messing with the cookies a bit.

Is there any way to force it to load that stylesheet (or some way to recode the site to make it more compatible with firefox? (I know you said these are local problems, but still, there might be something, technically)). My account here also does not seem to want to actually be affected by any of the custom skin stylesheets that are available for reasons unbeknowenst to me.

(and as for the screenshot, although it was getting grainy and blurry, I was trying to go with smallest size with decent quality, and that JPG on compression setting 1 was the smallest (the smallest PNG was more than twice that size, i believe))

Thanks for your answers so far, hope there's something i can do to fix this (i'll try messing with cookies a bit more)

Not sure why you're seeing cookie issues. The cookie code (on the Org) is a mess, and should really be re-done, so it could very well be broken.

I'm not quite sure what's causing the stylesheets to fail to load. I use Moz and have never seen it; AD and Phade both use Firefox, and I've never heard them complain about it.
My account here also does not seem to want to actually be affected by any of the custom skin stylesheets that are available for reasons unbeknowenst to me.
The site has been in a skin transition since before Phade left; naturally, Phade's kid slowed progress on that to a crawl.
