Keeping the Site Pure!

Post by Evangelion Unit 01 » Wed Jul 21, 2004 10:17 pm

I am only wondering what others would think if this site had to stay pure. That means nothing, but Japanese anime. No Disney, No Computer Animated, No real people, Ect. I could only be japanese anime, and only japanese anime that was orignally made in Japan. I couldn't have bee put here first.

If your wondering what I think, I think it should be just Japanese anime regardless of where it was made, and computer animation too as long its from Japanese games, the Japanese anime could be from anywhere though.

So, what do you think. Not to what I think, but the first question. The one in RED!

Indeed, those entries that aren't are violating the present rules.

Ture, but there still are those in there. The only one I have seen though is ANIMIX part 5. But I remember looking up a song and there was all this buffy the vampire slayer. They probably clean out people like that, but still I am just wondering if you think the site should. I do.

Well, no, you can't stop people from, say, including non-anime shots as part of their footage, so long as the video is not composed of them primarily. It's only fair to be able to stick some funky LA stuff in the middle of your video every once in a while and have it called an AMV

Wasn't the creators have to use a certain percentage for using non-anime footage, or was that a con rule of an AMV contest I picked it up mindlessly?

There's no official rule about percentages on this website, but yes, it's a general rule stated in most contests - I think the last one I saw required 90% anime. Here, it just says it has to be anime - and it has to have at least one anime listed to be on local (with the new 'upload checks' they have). Of course, you can still list non-anime vids, you just get disqualified from the vcas and sometimes they'll delete your vid descriptions if people complain - that rule is rarely enforced. Before he left, Phade mentioned at least one entirely non-anime vid that he allowed on local and planned to keep on local. If they enforced the no non-anime rule, that vid would be gone. So they need to keep it to 'upload/list at your own risk knowing we don't want it here' so there's a loop-hole for the exceptions.

According to the current rules, all you need is a frame of anime for a multi/mixed vid to be counted as an amv - it just needs some sort of anime included in there. Percentages would be good flat rules to go by, but then they'd be pushed to enforce it and timing the anime scenes in a mixed vid would get a little tedious after a while - especially when there are a lot of multi vids on local, and even more listed for direct/indirect. >.<

there's anime that isn't japanese or made in japan. vampire hunter d: bloodlust, reign (aka Alexander), some of the animatrix are just a few examples. yet they are anime. hence, only japanese shouldn't be. (at least as far as anime is concerned)

added note. disney has released anime.

Computer games don't affect kids. I mean, if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all run around in a darkened room, munching pills, and listening to repetitive music~Kristian Wilson, CEO, Nintendo Gaming Corporation

Oh, but isn't that just dubs and subs of actual Japanese animation? Like the various Studio Ghibli movies (Spirited Away, etc.). Unless you're talking about Mulan or something, which is sort of vaguely anime-style (which is redundant). Examples please.
