i remember helping my friend move into his new house and wind cat5 cables under the carpet and all over the place... i dont think the max is 100feet because he had these HUGE spindles that i doubt would be less than 500feet... s/v and usb cables i have never used over 50 feet long and 1/8 stereo i think i have used several 50 feet ones with bridges in between when i was setting up a rally at school so im not to sure
why dont u get speaker wire its cheap as hell and come on REALLI big spindles too

thats probably what i will use. i was just curious how strong the signals are from the divices and if there are max lengths to cables becouse i know they cant get to long. i also know that quality starts to drop after certin lengths. i have another question, my stereo speakers will be set up so that one will be pretty close to the radio and one will be about 10 feet away. should i extend both with the same length of cable to keep the timeing right or will 10feet not affect it enough to be able to hear it?

i doubt that ten feet of cable would make a difference... but anything over 50 some feet usually has distortion... or static sometimes i switch my setup off of my aux and plug my studio headphones rite into the cable and i can hey some static but that is with a 25 bridge 25feet cable, but when i had my original 25 with no extension there was no distortion

my crappy ass drawing is my normal setup... but i have a small room and it is from my computer to my stereo (which i use as a receiver because everything else on it is broken)
but if ure talking bout speaker wire i have my speakers 3
yes three of them are spread around the room and i dont think there is much loss in quality for them

ok thanx man. i usaly dont use bridges or female - female with male - male. i usaly just solder the wiers togeather, that keeps the quaility up, but i never delt with anything over 12 feet. my stereo is also mostly broken, the radio is shit and the 5 disk changer stops working from time to time. but it has 400watt speakers

For speakers, wire lengths of under 100 feet work ok. I have set up PA systems with longer runs but you loose some to resistance. Use 16 or 14 guage speaker wire for lengths over 25 feet. Larger wire causes less resistance. Don't be fooled by the high priced monster wire and other witchdoctor stuff, any good wire works fine. Radio Shack has plenty to choose from.

Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?
