"Artistic" catagory

I'd always thought that we had an "Artistic" catagory -- until I tried to enter a video today and discovered that, in fact, we don't.

I think it's rather absurd to not have this catagory as it exists in most conventions and the VCA.

Sooo... pretty please?

Artistic isnt a genre. It's something that you can give an award for but any type of video can be artistic so there's no reason to add it as a category distinct from other things.

Not to mention that what is artistic to some is crap to others. It's entirely subjective.

How about a category for 'purposely bad' videos? I don't consider those parodies and it would be nice to filter them all out with a simple '-' sign.

But "artistic" doesn't have to carry a positive connotation with it. If creators choose to put their videos under artistic, it doesn't necessarily mean that they think their videos are artistic in a way that is above other videos. And what if you had a video that doesn't fit into any of the current category besides "other"? What is "other" to one person may be "parody" to another. It's all subjective.

By letting creators submit their own videos, aren't we already trusting them to enter information as they see fit?

Yeah but I know a lot of creators that wouldnt want to label their videos as being "artistic" because, as mentioned, that's pretentious.

To the end user, they will presume that only videos labelled as "artstic" are actually artistic, which is obviously going to be false.

In short I think this would not serve any real help to anybody and would only be misleading in reality.

What ran up your butt and died? I think it was perfectly fine suggestion and although I doubt it will go up, he has the right to suggest and not be flamed.
