(Belated) One Piece - My Immortal vid up (AN Drama winner)

Post by GinnySeta » Sat Jul 03, 2004 9:49 am

All right, first off, apologies for this getting up so late. Right after Anime Next, I was dragged on a family trip for a week, and when I got home, my long distance boyfriend came to for a few days, so I didn't get much of a chance to catch up on all my online stuff. I'm swimming in it right now, trust me.

My video, The Navigator and the Swordsman, One Piece to Evanesence's My Immortal is (and has been available for over a week now ^_^*) now up for download here:

<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... v=41631

This is my first totally completed, polished, and released for public viewing video. (Although it's not exactly my "first video")

It appeared in the Anime Next AMV contest drama category. And by some odd twist of fate it won. If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times, but I am still in shock about that. I made this video for myself and maybe for a couple of friends I know. I entered it in the contest only because they needed entries, and because I was curious about how people would react. Quite honestly, I was expecting a) People to just be utterly confused because they hadn't seen OP past episode 2. or b) Disgusted because of the Zoro x Nami possibility undertones. (which totally and completely isn't what the video is about, but I've met a few OP fans who are personally offended by this pairing...don't ask me to explain that one o.o*)

It was probably one of the strangest (but best) moments of my life when they started to play my video as one of the winners. I had been in the cosplay contest with my boyfriend Monty and close friend Steve dressed as none other then One Piece characters. I started to sob my brains out and apparently made some kind of high pitched noise that I don't remember making, because Monty and Steve covered my mouth with their hands. And once the sobbing started to subside from the initial shock of winning, the sadness of some of the scenes in my video hit me, (which it had only done maybe once the whole time I was working on it) and it started again. I really wish someone had gotten a picture of that, because I think it'd be hilarious to see a Zoro and Sanji holding a hysterical Nami. And later that night, we won for best presentation in the cosplay contest - it was a pretty damned amazing, crazy night.

Since Vegetto EX got my video up (MUCHO thank yous and worships - I really couldn't have done this without you) I've had people who aren't shippers of ZoroxNami watch it, and say they understood and enjoyed it. That's probably one of the highest compliments I could get, because that's what I was going for in the video.

Okay, I've rambled on forever. And if you read my LJ, you probably read a lot of this stuff already - gomen nasai. If I've broken any AMV creator taboos, I'm also sorry, I'm new to this whole community. I hope you enjoy my video.

HURRAY!

How I missed this ?

Very nice vid , very nice choice of characters to go with the lyrics/song context.
But if you're making a drama vid , better use crossfades instead of abrupt cuts.

But I liked it , good to see more vids with One Piece being released ^^
Nothing usefull here .

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Perhaps the story was a little lost on me because I've never seen any One Piece... but then again, I've discovered that I have a tendency to never get the story behind drama videos.

Congrats on your win! Just going by the audience reaction, after the main showing and the one on Saturday afternoon, I thought the Kingdom Hearts video had it in the bag...

Responding to everyone here!

Post by GinnySeta » Tue Jul 06, 2004 11:34 am

First off, thanks to everyone who watched and responded!

Paulo - Thanks for the recommendation about crossfades! As I said in the response to my opinion...I didn't even know exactly what that was >.< But a friend showed me how to do it, and if Priemere will stop being a bitch...I'll have them in my next video.

SnhKnives - THANK YOU! When I hear people say this, I feel I accomplished one of my goals.

Otakuforlife - Thanks, I know how to fix that now, and hope to have that less in future videos.

Angelx03 >.< Ugh I know. But I sincerely doubt they're ever going to air the episodes that most of my video is made up of...and if they do, it'll be cut to pieces (especially Arlong.) Ah well...watch it, laugh at it, and wait for the uncuts =\

Scintilla - Read my reply to Paulo, I got it covered ^_~ And yeah...you need to see episodes 19, and 30-44 for the story behind these to make sense. My next One Piece video is going to screw the canon story completely, so maybe you'll get that one more ^_^*

Thank you! As for the contest results, my video was very close to the KH's video (which I liked, I'm a sucker for that song!) However, I was shocked to death about both - I really thought Soledad, Summer of 69, and Learn to Fly were all extremely well done videos, and was expecting those to be in the top. Plus when I saw the contest (on friday, the first showing) the reactions seemed to support this.

Oh well, it's all good - I just wish everyone's video could get reconition.
