This of course is only my opinion. But I agree with you I try to sync as much as I can to lyrics and tell a story behind the video. But I also try to focus on the rythm of the music when it allows me too. Most of the time I'll try to find a scene that match the lyrics but also goes with the flow. Like if it mentions fighting but it is in a slow song. I'll try to find more of a dramatic scene where for example a sword is coming down slowly or someone being struck and flying backwards in slow motion. It doesn't matter if the song is overused or not. I was the 13th person to officially use the song Numb before another 100 used it. I knew the song was going to be overdone but yet you can still have an original idea with an overused song and anime. It is just how you present your video and the story behind it. Anyway I hope this helps. But do what you want and not worry about what song you use. For me it comes from deep within and I express how I feel sometimes in these videos. Which gives them there true meaning.

This is kind of a hard question to answer. Different people have different ideas of what makes a good music video. For me it's seeing an anime I like and lots of action(usually anyhow). That or it has to be a well done comedy video. Romance videos aren't bad but most of them I find to only be good for 1 or 2 views. Spiffy little effects are always nice but they aren't necessary. In the end though, I'd just have to say. Make a video that YOU will like, that's what matters most and if you like it then there is a pretty good chance that someone else will too.

There is no formula to a good video. Good videos simply are.
I agree strongly with that. If the vid is entertaining and you enjoy it it's good. I don't think you can tell someone how to make a good video.

it really really needs to fit what the lyrics are on the song! i hate the old formula of "anime clips + song = AMV" that is so dumb! sure make it fit with the sound of the music... like if u have a slow song... don't make it all quick and fighty and action... and if you have a fast song... don't make it all slow and drama mainly... it can have a little of those but mostly fit with what the song sounds like and the LYRICS!!!

What makes any art good? Having a profound or large effect on those who view it.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

A really bad or unnaturally disturbing concept brought to life with an even more screwed up show. Add in to the mix booze and bawls and you have one lethal dose of insanity able to bring down even the mightiest of heros!
