Favorite Music/Musical Artist List

This site is dedicated to Anime Music Videos, as you all know. In our member profiles, we are able to list our favorite Anime Music Videos, also. But, we also get to choose our favorite Anime- but not our favorite Song or Musical Artist.

I find this odd, although it never really annoyed me until recently. This isn't just an anime fan site with Music Videos, it's about the music, too. We even have sections in the forum such as Musical Discussions and Anime Discussions. Why are Favorite Music Lists neglected within our profiles?

I'm sorry if my nit-picking of this matter is troublesome, but I honestly think that the anime of an AMV is no better (or worse) than the music itself. We even probably rely on the music more than the footage at some times.

Music is a critical component of AMV's, and so is Anime. I don't understand why you side with listing our favorite anime and still refuse to allow us to list our favorite music. I can tell that the majority registered here are anime fans; but that still doesn't mean that there are no fans of musical interest.

But man, have you ever taken a good look at the Artist/Song database? That thing is fucking scary.

what about favorite amv creator? i mean we can choose fav amv's, why not the creators?

Hell, it's not what I had in mind; but I just think Favorite Music is more injustified in this situation than Favorite Creator is.

well 1, this should be in site suggestions, 2, its a mostly anime site, pick your fav animes, and amvs, its not like we really care what your fav band is... and if you want to post your fav band, go ahead and put them in your profile!

And that's sort of the point of the thread - why is anime more important? If music doesn't matter, why do we have a general music section to compliment the general anime section? You can't have it both ways, either they both matter to amvs, or they're just anime videos.

There's a reason we can't have a 'Favorite Creators' list - that's been gone over in Site Suggestions - too much problem with egos (as if that doesn't happen with the fave vid list, but that's besides the point). The answer was no for that idea - too much spotlight on a specific amv maker.

But music? Maybe the creator isn't important enough to have a list. Maybe anime is more important than who made the vid. But music - there's no reason to leave that out. You don't have to worry about egos getting high or low because someone listed this or that group on his fave list. It's no different from having General Music to compliment General Anime. We have the 'Fav Anime' - we should have the 'Fav music'.

The only real question is whether it's favorite songs, or artists. I'd aim for song. Yes, it's limiting, but we don't do favorite animation studio - we do it on an anime-by-anime basis. Music should be cut up the same. Fair treatment and all.

Anime is no more important than the audio matched to it here, no matter what people might say. Just ask the editors - what determines their video editing? The song choice. What do they do first when making a vid? Pick the song. I might be more anime oriented, but almost every person who's responded in the Gen amv section talks about music over visuals. I won't believe anyone who says anime is more important - at least not to the editors. Heck, even when people talk about how they look for videos - they go looking for *songs* first, not anime. We anime-main fans are in the minority compared to the audio-oriented viewers. If anything, according to the response in threads here, music is much more important than anime when it comes to anime MUSIC videos.

Asking for a Favorite Song section to go with the Fav Anime is just asking for the other half of the anime + music that gives us our videos (trailer/dialogue vid makers aside).
