Brightness problem with vids!

Hi all.

I've had this problem for aslong as I can remember and no matter what I did nothing helped.

Whenever I watch any type of vid (mpg evi etc) they always appear darker than what they should be (eg red becomes dark brown/black). Its as if the brightness has been turned down but I can't find any options for changing somethin like that.

The problem is the same when I use Divx player, powerdvd, windvd and windows media player.

I've tried changing the brightness and gamma setting in my properties and it made everything on my screen alot brighter but when I play a vid its still the same =/

Any help or advice would be cool. Thanks

Look for "overlay" settings in your graphic drivers (right click on desktop -> properties -> settings -> advanced). All recent video cards have them.

You might need to open a video first before you can change them.

i had the same problem but the cause was becuase my monitor was getting old
