Once you settle in it's hard to get that back - you can do creative stuff but it's not quite the same. Some would argue that the mature stuff is better, and they'd often be right, but it doesn't have the same quality.
You don't seem to be seeing the forest for the trees.

I think that you are so busy coming up with reason why you can't do better, that you aren't allowing yourself to progress.

For example:

A trumpet only has three valves. That is a total of 8 possible combinations of open and closed valves. Once I've 'mastered' opening and closing those valves in the given 8 positions, have I mastered the trumpet?

Sometimes people don't top or burn out very early....

Sometimes there are creators out there that go through different moods/styles/phases.

Wonka and Neowulf can agree heavly on this one with me.

I had my newbie video phase....then my dark video phase....then parody phase....then my pink video phase....I have barley hit my comedy phase as of late since I've only made 2 comedy videos out of the 18 videos I've made in the last 4 years.

Emotions in a creator can very much have a huge impact on what their works look like. Some will be great....some won't be great....some will be really awesome....some will just really be out there.

Example:

Alternate Reality and Drunk With Love....they are complete oppposites....but each refered to a mood I was in at the given time. Yet, I believe both are some of the best works I've ever made, even if they are in different categories.
