Pie Row Maniac wrote: Y'know, it's funny; you guys take the time to click on these threads to complain about something that you've complained about before.
Much like you did to complain about what you are complaining about right?
Pie Row Maniac wrote: Are you helping the newbs, the other members, or yourselves by saying this?
Helping the newbs... prolly not. Helping other members or myself.. That's debatable.
Pie Row Maniac wrote: No, you're not.
I guess I was joking about the whole debatable thing....
Pie Row Maniac wrote: You're simply yelling at them out of frustration for something beyond the newbie's control.
Saying that it is out of their control is a gross lie. It is fully in their control to read before they speak. I dwelled this forum for a long time before ever posting here. It was well in my control to do so. It's almost like you are saying that since they are new *here* they are also new to the internet, as well as life and common sense. There is tons of information available here for people that is a mere click away, that is placed in reasonably logical places, that was designed for the purpose of helping people, that I feel ignorance is not a very strong excuse. I think that a button of a sleuth's magnifying glass with the word "search" beside it is something even a McDonald's employee can comprehend. Most forums have them. Most things in life have some resource like that if you think about it. It's just a matter of having the microscopic amount of willingness to seek it out.
Pie Row Maniac wrote: I mean, for crying out loud, is it really that hard to simply link to the sticky and let it be done and over with, instead of making yourself look like an asshole and making the newbs feel idiotic? Holy shit, it's NOT hard. At all.
Of course it's not hard. In fact there is a whole site that was lovingly designed to provide said links to such information. Redundancy isn't as big of a favor as you seem to dream it to be.
Pie Row Maniac wrote: Do everyone, including yourself, a favor: Shut the fuck up if you have nothing nice to say to people simply asking for advice.
Why should we do favors to those who don't do us the favor of exercising the intelligence they were born with? I mean honestly man, there is a whole part of this site entitled 'Site Help' with this very text:

"This forum is for help with this web site. Please read the FAQ and then search this forum before asking questions here; most likely the question you are about to ask has already been answered."

These newbs figured out how to turn on their computers, open a web browser, ACTUALLY DID ENOUGH RESEARCH TO FIND THIS SITE TO WATCH THE AMV'S OUT OF BILLIONS OF SITES ON THE INTERNET, know how to use the forums well enough to get registered, and start a new topic..... and then I am supposed to assume they are just too naive to understand a simple concept like reading existing information to answer questions that you have? Give me a break.

I am very patient with people that take the time to understand things. I have no patients for people who think that other people were put on this earth to answer their every question when they want, how they want, and where they want. I can't think of a good reason why I should.

And furthermore, I find it extremely egotistical of you to believe that you yourself wouldn't be doing "everyone, including yourself" a favor by 'shutting the fuck up'. I don't think you would be personally; in fact I enjoy hearing your side. But if it's your philosophy, couldn't it apply to you as well? Or are you somehow better than us? :?:

n00b != newbie.

Personally, I can't remember ever being n00by around here (perhaps because I didn't really set foot in the forums until I'd been on the site for a few months), though I always felt like a newbie just due to my relatively recent Joined date.

But just because we never committed the same sins these people are committing doesn't mean we can't have some patience.

I was a member of the site for a year and a half before I started using the forums, and when I did start using the forums I did feel like sort of a noob but considering I wasn't asking the stereotypical noob questions that feeling quickly went away.

I agree, though. We should have some amount of patience, it at least gives the noobs a reason to not think everybody on here is mean.

I'm not the one bitching at newbs.

And I do apologize for the rant last night. I was exhausted and not right in the head, and got pissed off way too easily. However I still stick to the idea of people needing to shutting up if they're not going to help anyone. I posted because I felt I could send that message to those who go off on newbs.
