Try El Hazzard and maybe Fusigi Yugi, both have some similarities to the story line of Inuyasha. Escaflowne is another to check out.Stilltongue wrote:I'm a newbie to anime also. But I have seen some of the basics, Bebop, trigun, blue gender etc.

My personal favorite is Inuyasha, I'm usually kept interested by the characters. I love interesting characters.

So does anyone have any suggestions on stuff I should see?
yu yu Hakusho, and wolf rain are also some of my favs.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

True, there were some boring points and there are many, many series, however I like the anime(s) overall. Well, excluding the one about a little kid whose school is destroyed by a Gundam fight and he meets the pilot while checking out the fallen Gundam. I didn't bother to catch the title of that one, but I would recommend avoiding it...someperson wrote:I found the Gundam series horribly boring. And there are too many of them.
You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.

So, you saw your first anime. Why are you asking us for why we like it? That's totally irrelevant. What's important is:
So, you just saw your first anime. How do you feel about it? A lot of us have seen hundreds of different anime, and we've forgotten what it was like. I personally saw vampire hunter D as my first anime. I was 12 at the time, I came in my friends house, and it was playing as the guy's head exploded, and my legs just collapsed, and i watched the rest of it. I saw it again, and I was like *whoa*. I walked back to my shouse shaking because it was so cool. I couldn't sleep. I was all over the place. It eventually passed.
You have a hunger for more. That's good. An informed human is a powerful human. Everyone has suggested good anime. Build yourself up, and watch more. There's several books on the hows and whys of anime, that help clarify some of the jokes, explain oddball devices you may not understand, and in general, give you an idea of the ... envelope that the anime is folded into.
My list is too long to give you, it spans three pages, front and back, two columns. each one is special, magical, and precious. I feel that a true AMV creator tries to express that awe and excitement that they feel with anime. It all boils down to wanting to share a feeling, a mood, a glimse of how that show/series/movie impacted you, the viewer.
Good luck to you.

It's better to start out with the simple animes, in my opinion.chabols wrote:i know nobody has mention this one yet and it was the anime that first got me into anime and it was ..(pause for effect).. martian successor nadesico although it is one of teh more simple animes i still think its very enjoyable.

What are you guys talking about? Flig him into lain! That the first serise I watched entirely and owned first! Since then I'v been an ABe fan(antic).
Do serial experiments lain (notice I keep the letter not caps). I'v watched it fully countless times and still don't understnad it. If you go for lain you'll never get anime out of your head (n'less you use that earwiz thing, It hurts!) Then you can get NieA_7 After that for some light humor.
Oh, a note on lain. Best watched subed with out the subtitles
You can use the subtitles the first 5 times but not after (I didn't like the english voice atoress for lain).
I say to go for Yoshitoshi ABe, and Uso blablabla (You know who I mean).
