Does this mean I can make a Bugs Bunny AMV?14. "Anime" in English has come to mean "animation produced in Japan." "Anime" in Japanese refers to any animated work; in Japan, Bugs Bunny is as much anime as Mazinger.
I think these "theses" should be noted.

Ehh
Guys have to make asses of themselves, its a legal requirement.bubblehead wrote:hehe, remembering Fanime, there was this one cosplayer, if you've seen sorceror hunters, Chocolate Misu. In her skimpier costume, not her normal one. I was hanging out with this guy I met at the con, and he's all "Now THAT'S a nice costume."
Or it could be that culturally guys are the ones designated to 'break the ice' and most just aren't good at it.
The only quiet guys I can think of that ever get the girl are bass guitar players, but that doesn't include anime.
Of course lets face it if its out there people are going to look. Some are just more vocal and less articulate about it.
That would be a great research topic for a psyc major. Relate the level of decibals in speech to a persons ability to speech well. ......nevermind
Anyway personally I think guys tend to need girls more than girls need guys.
I do agree with you that the list wasn't that funny.
It had its moments, but most was just a rant.
I agree with the #2 big time. I switched to DVD before I had a DVD player. I've hated VHS for years, magnetic encoding is ridiculous and fullscreen pan and scan is the devil.
Number 6 is good and very true. Of course the original two less market whoring games weren't that bad considering they were for the old gameboy.
Number 10 can go screw itself. Some anime needs authenticity, but there are limits.
22 is funny, but not entirely justified. Some anime are hard to find to rent before buying.
As for 48 all sites need DHTML. CSS at the least if not your doing your fan site the pain in the ass html way.
63 MST3K stands for Mystery Science Theater 3000 for those that don't know. Now you see why we shorten it.
Number 88 is hilarious.
95 lowers the more mature anime to the level of mindless bugs bunny crap. Of course its all a matter of implied semantics.
All in all the list could be better, seems a little bit like a would be Dennis Miller without the articulate smart-ass wit.

That was verily amusing. I don't agree with a lot of things listed there, but I can certainly take a joke, and it made me laugh...especially SOME things WERE true.angelx03 wrote:http://web.archive.org/web/200106040638 ... ts/95.html
I don't know if you guys already know this, but I found this to be VERY amusing.

Look at all my trials and tribulations

Don't disturb me now, I can see the answers

As for the cosplay stuff, given the site's name, I'd bet the writer of the rants was female. And "don't grab strangers' boobs without their permission" = "you need to get laid"? That's pretty sick. If you don't understand the concept of personal space or basic human respect, that's your problem, not the rant writer's.
HeavyMetal, of course it's a rant. It's clearly supposed to be humorous - humor with a grain of truth, but not literal and not meant for deep analysis.
But then... you seem to think there's a "legal requirement" for girls to get molested, so maybe I'm talking over your head here.
Oh well. I thought it was entertaining.
