Poll: Wich way do you get your best ideas?

I was on my roof (roofing), when I hear a song on the radio. I don't realy like the song, but I keep saying, "Man, I think this thing would go awsome with Evangalion!" I'll have to go out and buy a CD that I don't like, so that I can get this insiration out of my head.
Oh, I'd probably have to get all of my friends Eva DVDs too. Kinda hard to make it with out footage.

Most of the time inspiration comes by the song. Though, almost every time I've watch a new anime I'm browsing through my songs to see if I have something. The case is very rare that I actually find a good song this way (happened after watching Shamanic Princess - the result was Amity and after watching Arjuna for my current one).
However, most of the time I find good songs by accident and then I try to imagine what anime could work.

Most of the time, I'll hear a song then match up an anime to it. As my music choises are often rather rare and ecclectic, this works rather well.

Once in a while I'll be watching a show and say, 'hey, this would go great with ___' song, but not very often. (The scary thing is, the last time I did this, that exact music video was made and released the next day. 'Life's Gonna Suck' with Noir)

I think I also match up a song to an anime, rather than an anime to a song. In fact, for a few songs I have created an entirely new anime (in my head) and thought out all the scenes for the video. Now, if I could only draw better and then learn how to animate I'd be all set

As almost everyone here seems to say, my ideas majorly bud first from the song and not the anime. Sure, I'll look at my growing collection of anime and try to see if I can think of songs that would be good, but I usually won't have anything in mind until I actually hear a certain song and my brain snaps together like something connected.

For one idea I searched for songs with something about "teacher" for the anime Great Teacher Onizuka and actually found a song that i'd never heard of that was so perfect. Otherwise, I usually sit down, listen to a lot of songs, see if any pictures come to mind. For quite a lot, a clear anime surfaced in my mind while listening. Then if it seems like a worthwhile idea and no one else has done it I'll start planning. I've just made a list of all my ideas... I have pages of planning for quite a few.

Other than that, my friend who introduced me to amvs will bonk me on the head with a great song/anime combination. I believe she mostly listened to lots of music and did the same is there a perfect connection to an anime here thing. ^_^

I would say either or sometimes I finish watching and anime then I am hell bent on finding a song that would fit it. Sometimes its when I listen to a song it just hits me that it could work for an anime. Which ever comes first.

hm...

well, my ideas ussually stem from long periods of alcohol abuse followed by anime and music....... so the videos almost made for me there and then, i just have to touch it up......... not the best way of creating an amv, but beats serious thinking.............


theres always the 'make it up as i go along..' aproach....... but that rarely works for me...........

Most of my ideas were spawned from songs, but some were from anime then trying to find a good song was hard.

Most of the time, I listen to song to give me ideas but I got the idea for Bring Me Down (Anime Remix) after I watched the video for the song on ugarmy.com

I get almost all my ideas in the shower.
