A lot of people start out with Windows Movie Maker. it should come free with XP if that's the OS you are using.

Others use programs like Adobe Premiere and Ulead and similar programs. These you pay for but are well worth it in my opinion.

Another program you pay for that can help improve your editing skills is Adobe After Effects (I'm just learning this one myself, and enjoying it a lot.)

Other programs can be sued for ripping dvds and such for your footage. Check this out for more help.

Hope this helps, have fun.

If I were you I would start out with Adobe Premiere 6.0 (It´s not the newest version, but i think it is the most user friendly version)

When you feel like you need to do more then I would suggest Adobe After FX

Hope this helps ya out :D

I would suggest getting the trial version of Premiere from Adobe's website, that way you can decide if you like it or not before shelling out if you plan on making a lot of videos.

And a few have been. Thats why theres no DeCSS anymore

For programs than can be Used for ripping dvds, I suggest Dvd Decryptor. easiest one you'll ever come across to use IMO.

Really?

The original DeCSS code has been superseded by better decryption methods and implementations, but if you want a copy of the original code, I can give you that, too :)
