Post by Brain-Carnival » Sun May 16, 2004 7:00 am

here's my new AMV, made to "Grave of Fireflies". its mixed up with original footage of the pacific war in order to gain a more "realistic feeling" and a greater athmosphere....hope it worked^^

Excellent, as expected! I think I'm becoming a fan of yours, the style you used in this and many other videos lends it extremely well to dramatic AMVs. :D

I really don't care much for Grave of the Fireflies as a movie, but this AMV was very good. Probably the best GotF video I've seen to date. The mixing of anime with "real" footage was seamless and I liked it a lot, very nice touch. Some parts of the AMV had jerky motion though, that's probably because of the different frame rates.

hmmm yeah i noticed that too, but i couldn't think of a way to fix it, must be cause of the still footage i'd used...

T_T

It's so sad! :sniff:

I, for one, liked the movie, but only once. This AMV does full, if not more than full, justice to the movie.

I'm afraid of downloading this since I'll start crying since I already did at the end of the movie.

It's not quite as sad as the movie. I should know; I cried too (that's why I couldn't watch it again).

 That was so Beautiful! Grave of the Fireflies is the best anime ever, and you did a marvelous job portraying such a powerfully emotional movie. Using actual footage and audio tracks was brilliant.

However, there is one glaring problem keeping this from being a great video -
In some places, your editing is too fast. The transitional fades are too fast. Watching it silent, it looked like an action video (were it not for the music). You are shifting between 3, 4, sometimes 5 scenes so quickly that there's nothing worth focusing on to allow for any emotional impact.

Given the strong drama of the visuals and the gentle, ethereal flow of the song, this would have been much, much better if some of those images weren't cut so abruptly, because it felt like you were trying to literally squeeze in every painful moment from the show into 3 minutes.

Overall, it's still a worthy keeper.
