Crazy idea AMV Hall of Fame

Post by genestarwind21122 » Mon May 10, 2004 2:18 pm

I have this idea where if a video does something unbelievable and has never been done before. For example Koopsikeva's Euphoria 600 + ops hall of famer. Longest run at #1 of the year for star rating wise. Most wins at conventions. Of corse creators can be inducted. What do you think of this idea?

Who decides which vid/person gets which 'title'? Sounds like suggestions for future vca contests - at least if you do the "something unbelievable and has never been done before".

If you just mean stats and provable clean cut things - we already have the lists that do that. I guess you could mix certain vids up and make a new list, but you'd just be repeating things if you're going by ops and stars and such (you can find those on their respective lists).

Now...if you mean the "something unbelievable", then that would be a neat idea to have very unique videos separated from the others. But the way I see that is unique from either an editing standpoint or a thematic one - and both of those come down to opinion. You'd have to have a vote, and if we voted on 'most original' or 'most effect-ridden' then you're just asking for a changing vca scoreboard. They'd have to take a poll to determine who gets on it.

But I *would* like some sort of list for the con vids. I usually assume the vids that swamp the vca for that year, or the top of the lists are probably the ones that won and/or were shown at the most cons - it would be nice to see a list to prove or disprove this assumption. ^.^ It would stop any and all arguments about whether or not cons are needed to have the most widely viewed videos (some people still say they aren't, and that quality determines how many people view it, nothing else).

i think a hall of fame would only get more people angry about 'why this video got inducted while that video didn't.'

euphoria won 5 vcas, which is a permanent fixture in this site, so it will have its place of distinguishment/commendation for as long as this site is up. with the new scoring system, the 'classic' videos are also shifted to the top of the top 10% scale.

ari: for vids shown at cons, you could just go into each video description and see if cons/awards are listed. it'd be time-consuming sure, but if you want to test the hypothesis that vids shown at cons are more popular/likely to get awards, it could be done fairly easily.
