question about ogm files

Post by conspheretrix » Sun May 09, 2004 3:18 am

Hey guys. I have episodes 1 through 25 of rurouni kenshin in ogm files and they are in dvd quality, and superior sound quality too. Only problem is that the program I use, windows movie maker 2 doesn't import them. Is there anything I can download, maybe a patch or something for windows movie maker, so that it can import the ogm files? If not then r there any good convertors out there? My computer is 1.4 gigahertz, with about 700 megs of ddr ram, so its sort of limited.

thanx for helping me out guys

OGM is a bizarre container that few windows applications can understand short of normal players. Search out the program 'VirtualDubMod' it has the ability to open and parse an OGM file and you can then use VirtualDubMod to export the video stream to a normal AVI (Minus the audio) in HufYUV (Which will NOT make WMM2 comit in terror) or you can 'Direct Stream Copy' the video stream, it's probabbly either in Divx or Xvid. OGMs are just containers, the video stream in it is actually the same data you'll find an AVI, it's just in a container with more ability.

Being that both the audio and video CAME from the DVD releases, they can't be BETTER than the DVD releases, especially when compressed.

OK, so maybe you can touch up the video some, but when you compress it down, you're gonna lose that, anyway.

Buy your anime! *end rant*
