No Rest for the Weary...its another new vid from me!

Post by J.Alana » Sat May 01, 2004 11:29 am

Hi there,

Just to let you guys know. I've posted another brand new vid. Its subject is End of Eva and the song is Praise by Sevendust.

That's right no slow beats, no Japanese lyrics. Just really good hard rock.

Enjoy

Well your video qaulity wasnt very impressive but i still liked it. You picked a good song to go with the vid, but still the timing wasn't very impressive either. Your overlays were occassionally hard to see cuz they were a little thin, and i ddin't see the point of some of them. There's usually a reason for the overlay, either it correlates to the song or the 2 scenes kinda go together, but some of them didn't seem to do either.

I've seen some of your other work and i like the stuff you do even though its usually not the highest qaulity. I can say this one your better ones and i'll be looking forward to your next release. I'll leave a proper opinion later.

You bought up a good point.

Let me explain this comment you made.

" timing wasn't very impressive either. Your overlays were occassionally hard to see cuz they were a little thin, and i ddin't see the point of some of them."

The video was meant to seem like Shinji was losing his mind. In order to do that, I had to go "against the rules." Usually when I do a vid, I hit hard on the timing and the overlays are usually in sync but in this video I wanted it to appear chaotic and essentially a "mind trip."

I really wanted to give you the impression that Shinji was losing his mind and thats why you see some of the overlays the way they are.

My thing more so is direction. I feel its more important to give you a story then hitting a beat hard or syncing an overlay with the music. I feel if I give you a story, its more of an impresssive video.

With this vid, I wanted to try something new. I think thats really what I want to accomplish this year, do new things, take a risk and see how it goes.

Sometimes when you go against the grain, you get fantastic results.

I don't disagree with your comment. More so, I welcome them but all in all , this is in essence art and art can be anything we want it to be.

So for this video, I broke rules and said "f-- it. Let's try something really new and different." I am glad that you enjoyed the video. Look for some other stuff later on in the year, which I promise, will break even more rules.

Best Regards,

J

Ok i read your response and then rewatched your video a couple of times and came to the conclusion i may have jumped the gun a little bit. While i stand by most of what i said, your video was better than i originally gave it credit for. I really should have read your video description before downlaoding it i guess. Well keep up the good work, but i stand by the video qaulity comment, it could have been better.
