Insane second project

Post by sinaj » Fri Apr 30, 2004 11:02 am

Ok. I got an idea for my second video that involves taking a character from one anime and physically putting her in another anime so the two can have a conversation. So far, it's looking nice, and the lip-syncing is coming along nicely, but I'm going to have a part near the end where they are both going to say "why not?" and the vocals overlap there. I would like to sort of get a picture-in-picture effect when that happens, where the first character would say the words and before she was done the second character would "pop-in" sort of like in their own "picture" and say the words too. (I hope that makes sense, lol)

Has anyone done this before? I'm using Premiere and any help would be appreciated. I haven't really started on that part yet because I wanted to get the rest of the ground-work done before moving on to the hard part.

And yes, this project is quite the second video insanity, but I love the self inflicted punishment! ^_^

Have you checked out videos like Tainted Donuts and Transcending Love yet? If not, I recommend you do.

Generally, what these involve is taking footage frame-by-frame into photoshop, cutting out characters there, and then assembling them frame-by-frame once again in Premiere. It's not an overly tricky technique, but it's incredibly time-consuming.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Are you using Premiere Pro? If so, put the first clip in track 2 and the second in track 1, and apply the Garbage Matte to the top clip so that the part of the first clip you want ends up showing through. (You'll probably also need to use the Motion settings to get the right part of each clip to show.)

If you're using Premiere 5.1 or 6, then do the same thing, except instead of the Garbage Matte, go to the top clip's Transparency settings and adjust the handles in the little box until you get what you want. (It's the same kind of thing, but not as precise and not named.)

Is Premiere 6.5 the same as Pro or different?

Different.

Premiere 6.5 is almost EXACTLY like 6. I honestly can't even remember what the difference is.

Premiere Pro is technically version 7 (correct me if I'm wrong) And has been more or less redesigned from the ground up.

Don't get too used to thinking of it that way, because Premiere Pro 1.5 is coming out very soon. If you think of Premiere Pro as Premiere 7, it'll just make things very confusing.

Thank you for the great input. ^_^

It's progressing little by little (I decided to beginning with a little atmospheric music before the actually song begun and had to shift everything over a bit but it's finally all matched back up, hehe) but I realized I still need to get more footage. And here I thought I had enough! LOL!

Thanks again!
