Being popular = power?! I hope not, at lease not on AMV

Post by DuoEnigma » Thu Apr 29, 2004 6:34 pm

One thing I am noticing about AMV is that the people who are more popular have more power over other others in someway or another. Like my good friend Arigatomina did a "Yaoi" video for yuyu hakushu! and he got a review of mostly all 1's! I am not yaio, but i keep an open mind. This is what I got from his email

Great video! I read 1 of the reviews on how they almost gave you all
ones, I think you should report it because its dropping down your ratings.
anyways, my question is are they really yaio? and how did you make the
effects on your video by having a different backround? tanks

You mean my YYH vid, right? It's not actually yaoi in the anime, I
just made it look that way. ^_^; And I *did* report the flame, but they
don't care since it's just a yaoi vid. I guess he'd have to cuss up a storm
in his review before they'd bother with me. Sad since not two days ago
someone more 'popular' complained about a review and it was deleted
immediately. But that's just the way it is.

As for the effects - for the anime I took the footage..........................

While I doubt there is any "favoritism" going on, I don't think people should really care so much about what opinions people give them. I've recieved opinions like that before, hell, i think most everyone probably has. I just ignore it though.

How good does a friend have to be for you to get their gender right? :P

now ari's an it? heh, j/p

as for the op, if that's his opinion, you can't force him to like the video. if he's homophobic, you can't force him not to be.

Eh...I could have told you not to post this. ^_^;;

He has a right to be homophobic. So that means he has a right to flame me for *not* being homophobic. That's the way it is. Flames are fine as long as they're for a good reason like homophobia.

I'm surprised the people who replied saying 'ignore it' didn't reply in the other thread in this forum where someone requested a review be deleted and *had* it deleted immediately.

Well, we don't always read every single post, and normally there's no reason to reply to something unless theres controversy :p Controversy makes the world go round

But, like downwithpants said, thats his opinion. He gave it average (or slightly below average) marks for video audio and action sync. The scores for review and overall can be justified if he truely hated the video that much. Effort, i have no idea what was in his head, maybe he always just makes his effort scores similar to his review and overall scores? As for the low originality score, maybe he just somehow felt it wasn't very original? I fail to see how anyone with a head on their shoulders could find the originality of the video to be below average... but... meh.

I think this is one of those that walks the fine line between being a flame and someone's actual opinion, and when there's a line, someone on one side or the other is always gunna lose.

I don't care about the scores as much as I do about *why* he reviewed the video. But I know, as long as it isn't an all 1s review with curse-words, it's okay. I'm going to go and review every video I don't like with a mix of 1s and 2s and use nice words like:

I hate you for showing straight people. Bad-bad!

Are you really telling me a review like that wouldn't be deleted if Willow asked it to be? I doubt that. If it were me who asked? Probably not.

But like I said, I didn't make this thread. I don't care about that review anymore. I know where the org stands, and that's all I need to know. I'm not going to ask that a flame be deleted again. I won't ignore it, of course, but I won't bother the org. I have no respect for a place that doesn't protect its members, all of its members.
