Oh yea, Pen-Pen:

Got around to watching your video a few more times, and just some things to watch for:

I'd look over the timing on the sequence between the 'SOS' flashing and the time when that really good glass door shot comes in (about :40 to 2:30) It seems all the new sequences are very smoothly edited, but those in-between parts I have some reservations about - especially how the cuts and transitions are timed. Especially, note these parts:

:50 - :58,
a pop frame at 1:04 (!),
some jerky movement with the guy floating around 1:12,
fades to black from 1:17 to 1:20 and 1:23 to 1:26,
scene changes at 1:45 and 1:46 (they seem to be a split-second too late)
1:48 - 1:55,
a shaky-looking frame around 2:00,
2:14 - 2:17.

Not to say I don't agree with the editing choices, just take a look there and make sure the timing is lined up as closely as you can get it.

I gotta say though, the farther that video goes, the better it seems to get
:)
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Don't use hellsing. The fansubs back then were really iffy. I'd say go with Megaman or Akira.

New section uploaded. I finished the rest of the slow part (4:30-5:30) and I liked it so much I decided to do a render of just that part. I had a really hard time deciding wether to use this footage here or put somthing with Miguel and save this footage for a faster section. I think I made the right decition because it turned out pretty well. Check it out!

Thanks Otohiko, I hate that section now and I try to avoid watching it but I'm going to have to fix it eventually. Once I get to the end of the song I might just redo the whole section.

Ooshna - I think a Instrumental Akira video might be very cool. I'll listen to the songs and tell you what I think.[/b]

*video spoiler*

Wow. I just saw forbiden memories, which is in the inbox on the FTP but is also on the golden donught. The video was one of the happiest I've seen in a long time, it made me smile and miss my girlfriend. It was very cute potrayal of a girl with a crush on this guy who at first doesn't pay attention but eventually falls for her. It was just happy. But... but then the music changed ever so slightly. And the scene darkened. And then. Suddenly. There a was blood everywhere. Screaming, fear, pain, hatred. And... And... ARGH MY EYES!

Needless to say this video left me a bit shaken. I had no clue what the hell was going on and it was terifying. I got the idea that the ending was suposed to be sad but I was so lost and shocked that it was just frightening.

Must get on maintaining that FTP again...

There's an EVA connection in "InstruMentality"? I haven't seen EVA yet, so I wouldn't really know. I just made it up when trying to come up with a word for the degree to which a piece is instrumental. I do think it makes as much sense as a "container name" than as the project's specific name, as I mentioned in my last (now buried) post.

Wow, these string covers are certainly getting a lot of play. We have:

A string cover of a Led Zeppelin piece by Bond
A string cover of a Jimi Hendrix piece by Nigel Kennedy
A string cover of a Metallica piece by Apocolyptica

and, possibly:

A string cover of a Tool piece by Third Eye Open (or is that the album)

I think I know what one of the themes for the narration is going to be...
may seeds of dreams fall from my hands -
and by yours be pressed into the ground.

Are the string covers ok to use? I think the album is Thrid Eye Open.

Here's the Eva connection. Not a big spoiler but some people are picky.

As for the string covers they are pretty varied. Some have a lot of other instruments and some have only strings. Speaking of which I'm curious about who is doing Apocolyptica and what anime it uses. I'm also curious about yours, aznRAVEr, as I was listening to it and I couldn't think of what I would use.

ooshna - String covers sound good to me. Schisim sounds pretty cool with a wide range of themes. Yeah Akira would probably be better than mega man here but you’ll have trouble finding enough appropriate footage. Are you sure there's no place where you can Rent/borrow anime? You might be able to use Akira though. If you search out the darker side of the movie and avoid the "wow lets use lots and lots of action" that you see in just about any Akira video that isn't a Tetsuo profile you might come up with something pretty original. The way I would do it is to take different musical themes and match them up with a character or theme in the movie, but that's just me. Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

Just got to listen to the Tool covers. Liked them, plenty of detail and variation.

I wasn't criticizing the string cover thing - I'm pretty sure I'm the one who started it. I really do think it might be a good theme for the narration like "and at the beginning of the third millenium it was decided that rock music should be translated back into the instrumentation of its classical precursors..." or something like that.
