RahXephon > NGE?

Before I get flamed, read my points please.

When I see NGE, I was a bit saddened. The episodes contained...just random stuff. They would think up a new plot for each episode.

When I saw RahXephon, I was shocked by it's actual linearity. It never jumps around with random episodes, it actually has a story in it. And it keeps going with the storyline instead of creating another plot each episode.

Some of us like linearity, and some of us don't, I guess.

I don't know about that... Evangelion has a bunch of story arcs that carry through multiple episodes. Each episode can stand on its own, but you can't really watch them out of order and know what's going on.

Then again, they don't really make a lot of sense in order.

Although I haven't seen both series, so I can't really compare.

I couldnt remember a single damn characters name, i didnt't care about the characters, the story was confusing as hell, and I often quit paying attention or flat out fell asleep while watching it.

It is interesting how different viewpoints are between people. It's a good thing too, otherwise no one would have anything to talk about

But I wouldn't go as far as saying 'random stuff'. Excel Saga is 'Random Stuff'.

well that just proves that you never took the time to understand NGE. the eppisodes arent random, thiers a constant story. thiers never any filler eppisodes. thier is barely a scene that arent somehow linked to the story. i mean, evangelion has one of the msot well structured and complete stories ever ( though when it comes to structure in a story, nothing beats that of escaflone ).

rahxephon is what jumped around. it was simply, lost. the characters we're stupid and often acted out of character. non of them we're realy believable. actualy on the whole rahxephon was just crap, in its purest forum. oh yeah, in case ya didnt mention, some scene's were straight ripped of from evangelion. no, the creaters didnt get influenced by evangelion, they just stole a bunch of its scenes and ideas, and well, made them shit.

amen to that. i felt exactly the same. most of the time i was just waiting for the eppisode to end, or hoping that itl start geting good. sadly though, it never did. oh and, yeah, i seriosly couldnt remember a single characters name, even an hour after id finished watching it. pure overrated crap

I doubt it's overrated. Many people hated it. Perhaps you couldn't remember the RahXephon characters name because it wasn't hyped enough? The only reason I knew Asuka was because of all the fan sites when I first saw it.

I'm not saying Evangelion had no story. It was well put out, and structured much better near the end. But for the most part, the series, at least in the first half, just kept on making a series of new plots for each episode. Another angel came down, emotional episode, angel comes down, emotional episode.

RahXephon, on the other hand, has episodes that continuosly follow the plot line. While I will admit that character get switched in and out quite often, they all have unique personalities and are well voice acted.

I'm under the impression that people like Evangelion because they feel they have to, not because they want to. The story was certainly understandable, but jumped around to much for me.

Few scenes, per se, but RahXephon has a LOT of references to Eva.

epp 2, about 6 miutes into it, the hospital scene. i mean, all they did was get that scene that was used in eva unperous times, and add a bit of light.


in epp 3, about 3-4 mintues into it, the misato fake, some rocks start falling and the rx puts his arm over her. eva in epp 01 puting its arms over shinji when nerv gets hitt


epp 4, the yellow rei fake graps hold of shinji fakes arms and the rx activates. end of eva, asuka reches for her mothers arms before awakening


epp 5, about 6 minutes, elevator bieng taken down. very similar to one used to get down to tokyo3.


epp 6, that reporter guy coming in. hmmm, kaji


epp7, around 19 minuts into it. the rx shatering that field to get to the monster thing. oh and, shinjifake coping some damage in the shoulder, shouting in pain as he puts other arm on shoulder. eva, epp 19, exact same thing exept eva looses arm.



and thats about all i can be fucked finding for now, if i could be fucked i would find alot more. sificient to say, the last two eppisodes might as well have bien turned into a movie and renamed end of rahxephon. oh yeah, the misatofake. yes, she loved beer and liked geting drunk too. oh yeah, and that monster that created that black shadow which drowned everything. epp 16, eva01 drowning n a sea of derok. eventualy goes beserk and comes back. again rahxephon just ripped it off.

You fell asleep with all the screaming Ayato does? But anyhoo. I guess it all depends on what a person is interested in. I experieced a similar situation with Big O.

I haven't seen the full series of either anime (NGE because the person I was borrowing it from quit lending out his dvds, due to a dvd breaking monkey, and RahXephon becuase I'm poor and I'm working on finishing it)
But from what I've seen I tend to like RahXephon a bit better. Not saying that i didn't like what I saw of NGE. But I have a slight tendency to agree with toxic shade said just about every RahXephon episode I saw (episodes 1-19) added to the plot. With NGE there are little tidbits in the episodes that are significant to the plot, but nothing too overly interesting (but I've only seen episodes 1-12).

I wouldn't say that RahXephon is a rip off of NGE. They're in the same genre (sci-fi, mecha) so there are bound to be similarities.
