Sailor Stars

Post by Arigatomina » Mon Apr 12, 2004 9:07 pm

A few questions, at least one of which has probably been answered somewhere. ^_^;

First, does anyone know if this arc is going to be released in the US? If not, are there high quality raws available to buy of the arc? And more importantly, is it worth buying the original in the first place?

For anyone who has seen this series, would you mind spoiling it for me? I've read quite a bit about it and seen at least one episode (seen screencaps for lots more). If no one wants to give me a nice 'review' slash 'summary' of the arc, can someone point me to a good detailed site that will tell exactly what the episodes entail? So far I've gotten the basics, but I doubt I'd pay raw prices for this arc unless I know it's going to be good. From what I've heard, it sounds a little irritating (the one episode I saw was okay, but the side story of Mamoru and Usagi - yes I know what his problem is - really was just annoying). And I don't like the idea of the old villain coming back after seeming loss (or villainess being controlled by someone else).

I'm starting to seriously doubt that Sailor Moon Stars will be released in the U.S. Heck, recently ADV lost their license for the first 2 seasons of Sailor Moon, and pretty soon Geneon will lose it (I don't know if it's for seasons 3 and 4 and/or the movies). I don't what's Toei's deal with this. :?

Oh and there's actually 2 arcs to this series, you will note as you read. IF you choose to read...HEAVY SPOILERS!
Spoiler of anime series wrote: Somewhere in the Galaxy the Sailor Wars are beginning to try to defeat the evil known as Chaos. A legendary soldier sealed the evil within herself and sent her star seed into space, a last light of hope against Chaos. Galaxia, the once legendary golden soldier is now on a mission to rule the universe by taking the star seeds of all of the Sailor Scouts in the Galaxy. She arrives on Princess Kakyuu’s planet and destroyed it, but the Princess managed to escape and her guardian’s the Sailor Starlights begin their quest to search for her and Galaxia arrived on Earth. She located the seal of Queen Nephrenia in the New Moon and woke her up, breaking her seal and sending her out to cast her revenge.
Nephrenia broke her mirror and the golden shards fell into the city, one in particular fell into Darien’s eye. Meanwhile the Outer Scouts return and power up because according to Hotaru (who grew up rapidly), their Princess is in danger. A week later Mamoru was acting strangely and very mean towards Usagi. The girls discussed it and Rei told them that a dark energy had tried to enter her mirror. That was when they realized that almost everyone seemed to be enthralled with their mirrors lately. Some glass shards suddenly grew into mirror parodies of Nephrenia. When they attaked the parodies the Outer Scouts appeared and helped. The parodies kept reforming though and Sailor Saturn told Usagi she must awaken as the Princess of the Moon. With the energy supplied by the others Usagi became Eternal Sailor Moon and was able to destroy the parodies.
Mamoru had still been acting strangely though and then Nephrenia spoke to him through a mirror, claiming him as hers saying that everything that Usagi loved would become hers. Usagi, who was worried about went over to his apartment. While their Mamoru was hanging up more mirrors and Usagi though she saw a silhouette inside of them. Mamoru kicked her out and Usagi was heading down the stairs when the girls caught up with her. All of a sudden she realized who the silhouette was and rushed back into the apartment with the Scouts at her heels. Nephrenia pulled Mamoru into the mirror saying he’d be hers by dawn and Rini began to flash, then fainted. Back at the temple Trista told Serena that if Darien wasn’t saved Rini wouldn’t exist. Serena started to cry and ran outside. She transformed into Eternal Sailor Moon and the Sailor Scouts hurried after her. They were separated by Nephrenia and all the scouts were being trapped. When Sailor Jupiter came upon Usagi, she was trapped within a dream. Nephrenia was trying to kill her but Sailor Jupiter kept stopping. When Nephrenia asked why, Jupiter told her it was because Usagi was her friend and if Nephrenia had any they would do the same for her. Usagi woke up from her dream when she saw one of Jupiter’s rose earring’s. When she finally reached Nephrenia she was exhausted and was easily captured. Usagi asked why she was doing this to her and she told her revenge for the loneliness she had felt. Usagi's eyes filled with pity, Usagi told her to let everyone else go and take her revenge solely on her. The other’s were freed of their prison including Mamoru and Nephrenia frantically tried to attack them all. They told her to believe in Usagi who asked Nephrenia to remember her true dream. All Nephrenia had ever wanted was a friend. The glass shard that had possessed her shattered and somewhere far away, a young Nephrenia woke up from a nightmare.

Chibi-Isa returned to the future shortly after their battle with Nephrenia. Mamoru was accepted into a school in America and left giving Usagi an engagement ring. A band the Three Lights appeared in Tokyo. On the plane Mamoru saw a strange golden light outside. He fought Galaxia but she defeated him. The Three Lights enrolled at Usagi’s school and became somewhat friends of the others despite their arrogance. As the Sailor Animates appeared attacking people for their star seeds Eternal Sailor Moon fought them. She also encountered the Sailor Starlights who were trying to find their princess. Usagi encountered Chibi Chibi a mysterious little girl who brainwashed her parents into thinking she was their daughter. From then on, Chibi Chibi followed Usagi everywhere. When the Sailor Scouts finally discovered the identity of the Three Lights they were very surprised. They tried to avoid each other from then on, the Outers wanted to protect the Earth from invaders and the Starlights were concerned only with finding their princess despite what earlier friendship they once had together. Chibi Chibi, was walking one day and followed a couple of red butterflies who turned into an incense burner. Later, the Starlights were certain they smelled their Princesses perfume on Usagi and Chibi Chibi. They were convinced the incense burner would lead them to their princess. During a battle Usagi and Chibi Chibi were swallowed into black hole and Usagi lost her star seed (the Imperium Silver Crystal), but Chibi Chibi emerged from the hole with the incense burner glowing. Princess Kakyuu materialized and carried Usagi out and returned her star seed.
Galaxia felt a strong power on Earth and decided to take the matter into her own hands. Usagi was still sad about not hearing from Mamoru and when she finally confided to the girls that she hadn’t heard from him they phoned his University in America and were told he never arrived. When Galaxia finally attacked the Sailor Scouts she took Princess Kakyuu’s star seed as well as Usagi’s eight guardian scouts star seeds. Usagi was devastated and demanded to know how a Sailor Scout could do this. Galaxia laughed and told her she could only depend on herself like when she sealed Chaos. Galaxia took Usagi’s star seed and was about to kill her when the light of hope awakened. Usagi woke up to see a grown up Chibi Chibi, Galaxia’s star seed also known as the light of hope transform herself into a sword, telling Usagi to use it to defeat Galaxia. When Usagi took hold of the sword she became Princess Serenity and grew wings. At this point Chaos took full control of Galaxia’s body but Usagi refused to kill her. She told Galaxia that she believed in the hope in her heart. The Imperium Silver Crystal let out a burst of light and somewhere inside Chaos Galaxia heard Usagi’s words. Chaos left her body and disappeared. The Sailor Scouts were brought back to life including Mamoru. Galaxia returned the other star seeds to their rightful owners. The Starlights and Princess Kakyuu left to make a new life together.

Character Spoilers wrote:

Galaxia:

Galaxia’s supposed to be the most powerful of all of the Sailor Senshi of the Universe. She’s a beautiful golden haired woman who somewhere in the future encounters Chaos the ultimate enemy. Galaxia couldn’t destroy Chaos so she sealed it within herself. Unfortunately it grew and tried to possess her. She sent her star seed in the form of Chibi Chibi as a ray of hope out into the Universe. She goes around through the universe and takes the star seeds from the other Senshi to increase Chaos’ power (who’s taking her over) and put a bracelet on them. They became the Sailor Animates who do her bidding. Sailor Iron Mouse, Sailor Aluminum Siren, Sailor Lead Crow and Sailor Tin Nanyako act as her subordinates to search for more star seeds.

Chaos:

Chaos is the ultimate enemy. PERIOD. When Chaos takes over Galaxia her clothes become black, her skin gray and she grows bat like wings. During her final showdown with Eternal Sailor Moon, Chibi Chibi grows up and tells her to use the sword (she turns into it) and destroy Galaxia. Serena become Princess Serenity and grows wings. However she refuses to fight. She tells Chaos that she loves this world and she won’t fight her because she believes in the hope within Galaxia’s heart. Galaxia is pulled from within her heart and Chaos is destroyed.
My opinion:
Stars is my third favourite series for Sailor Moon. It was my second until I saw the original first series. (Order ranking for anime: Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon Stars, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon SuperS). It's probably the most dramatic and features all the characters you could possibly want. I'd dare say it has the most character development, and ties up many a lose end for the series. I haven't read the manga for stars in a while, and I remember only one minute detail that I'd wished they'd included, but it's nothing to ruin the entire series as a whole. (I mean the books are always ten times better anyways)....

As for whether or not it's being released...well ADV is supposed to releasing it as well as the musicals...but as my dear Anime Shop Keeper mentioned the other day....what they say and what they do are two very different things =/

I'm living with my fansubs for the moment, I'm not going to invest in legal raws yet...but it could take a while.

Ah, thank you very very much! ^__^

I'd heard the basics, the enemies, the ending, the 'good guys' but none of the little details. It does sound pretty good. ^_^; The only episode I saw was the -

::curses:: I have not seen Sailor Stars...despite the fact that I have the whole damn season sitting on my shelf in my room! I ordered it for my buddy Kikyo and I know she'd kill me if I watched it before her. She promised to lend it to me once she's done.

Yes, it's bootlegged I'm afraid, I don't think it'll be licensed, though I believe I saw a Sailor Stars Movie on a shelf once.

Can't wait to see the show!!!

It is the other way around. I have seen about half of Sailor Moon Stars, eventually I will see each episode, it's my 2nd favorite season. Most people say it won't come to America but it could possibly, I've seen files with little clips of it in English, one was a clip from an episode in about the middle of the series, so either they quit or they're secretly working on it, but I could tell it was the real deal.

Do you have any idea who dubbed it?
