I'm loath to throw around the D-word, but I think this does kind of apply. Even so, Daniel, I'm more likely just to say that people who say stuff like that are immature assholes. Really. Something in their broken little heads makes them feel all big and bad when they beat on other people's tastes. Some may grow out of it, some won't. Regardless, their hate is a reflection on them and not on you. Bottom line. They're the problem.
Sidebar: Ari, I wonder what fanfic sites you go to, because ff.net is a hive of alternating ego-stroking and hysterical flames such as the world has rarely seen. The fanfiction world isn't holy, or at least not if you venture out of tightly moderated communities. I'd kind of appreciate it if you didn't slag the AMV world and hold 'fic up as some sort of promised land, because I've been in both, and both are inhabited by human beings. They have their quirks and drawbacks, as does any group of human beings.
I know you hate me, so take that with a grain of salt; just had to complain, because that's what I do.
Anyway. The only thing I've done that's drawn fire is mouthing off on the forums. That's the blessing of being obscure; nobody knows about you to give you grief.
I have gotten flack for using songs nobody likes, but no outright obnoxious flaming.
Topic sentence, anyone who can't understand that opinion != objective truth, and can't voice their opinion civilly and constructively, only reveals their own stupidity in the end.

I remember that thread, that was what, a year and a half ago?
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

I never said there weren't flamers, but all you have to do is submit annonymous flames and they are removed within a day - no questions asked because the idiocy speaks for itself. For repeat offenders, a single email, and links of the flames, is enough to get that person banned. I know, I've tried. I may hate ffnet's new policies, they take care of their members - all you have to do is let them know about the problem.SarahtheBoring wrote:Sidebar: Ari, I wonder what fanfic sites you go to, because ff.net is a hive of alternating ego-stroking and hysterical flames such as the world has rarely seen.
Yes, it's not a difference of the people inhabiting the two so much as the freedom flamers are given. Here they say to ignore it - there, they take care of it. Hands off - hands on. And this is a private site, compared to a public one, so yes, it comes as a surprise. But I never said the fanfiction world had smarter people - my comments were about the communities I have frequented. Notice the only name I gave was ffnet - and you can check their policy on flamers for yourself if you're bored. They don't accept them, and they don't ignore them. And I'm sure any older reader knows they aren't as tightly moderated as they pretend to be if my fics have lasted through the last few cuts. ;pThe fanfiction world isn't holy, or at least not if you venture out of tightly moderated communities. First of all, I love the afro icon. I remember watching Abracadabra on the Pro tapes and LOVING it because of how wellt he song went with it. I nominated it in several categories.ladydx wrote:Abracadabra has been termed my "lesbian" video.I just thought the anime went well with the song...
My personal theroy is..if you don't like it..don't watch it..hence the reason I don't watch very many yaoi videos.
That's a very good theory to live by.
I agree. I really don't tie people down and make them watch my videos (with the exception of my mom and brother). I understand that people don't like my videos, and I can live with that. Honestly. It just irritates me.sarahtheboring wrote:I'm loath to throw around the D-word, but I think this does kind of apply. Sorry, but I'm trying to have a serious discussion here. Please take your joking elsewhere.dwchang wrote:Stop with the jpop shit Oh wait, crap I made a video to a jpop song >_<. Self-pwn!11
I kid...nothing but wuv here :-*
I think that's kind of pushing it, because I *love* to hear from people who really enjoyed my videos, or even people who have suggestions on how to improve. What irritates me is when people decide that they want to make a stupid comment due to personal preference. Leave me a low reviewable score then, but don't trash things that I put an effort into.trythil wrote:It's nice to not have to deal with what viewers think.

I'd be willing to bet that everyone has been discriminated against in one way or another (be it sexual preference, bad/good manners down to whether or not they like your avatar or sig or how often you do/don't post, regisration date, grammer, spelling or any other such inane act), so I wouldnt worry about it in the slightest.
