Uhm...that does have to do with the preview button and exactly what Phade is saying. Phade doesn't have an edit button because he wants people to think prior to posting. In this case, you could've thought your post out, wrote it out, previewed it and if something else came within that minute or two, put it in.nailz1000 wrote:Actually, I just type and navigate really fast. I had made another post in another forum, (which could have been avoided by allowing me to edit my original post) and headed over here to ask for edit buttons. And I got that stupid flood control message. I'm not an idiot, I know that has nothing to do with edit buttons.Phade wrote:Hey nailz1000,

Phade.
Reguarding edit buttons, AD, Phade: It has nothing to do with the preview button for the reason I'm asking. I had made a post, and 45 seconds later I remembered something else that I wanted to add to my first post. But, I had to not only make a double post, but wait an ADDITIONAL 45 seconds to make said post. It's quite a long time to have to wait on the internet you know. =P .. I'm sorry, I don't type stuff in this box, let it sit for a minuite or more scratching my chin and thinking "hmm. is there anything else I want to add?" I type, I submit, I move on.
His point is that if you really thought your post out, you'd probably already think of the other stuff you wanted to append it with.
I like the idea of no edit button since it means people have to actually *gasp* think before posting.

I posted something on here, then an hour later, forgot something I wanted to say, so I posted it. Edit button time limit would be nice, it'd cut back on the amount of double posts and such.
The same thing happened to me after I posted in one topic, found a similar topic and was gonna say to either have it moved, deleted or locked. I got that message...

I think, IMHO, an edit button would turn the pleasant mods of animemusicvideos.org into the hellacious mods on MT. That's bad.

How the hell would the ability to edit your own post turn mods into hell hounds that everyone hates? Jesus christ.
Also, DW, if you have time to sit there and read your post and re-read it and then sit and wait for some time to make sure that you've posted everything you care to on the subject, then thats all well and good. You know what though? this is a forum for chrissake. I've never heard of anything more assining than not being able to edit your own posts. It's freaking stupid. It's an ineffective and rediculious way to try and cut down spam.

Sometimes I actually take the time to preview and then I still think of something else or catch a mistake right after I hit submit :p So I usually don't bother to preview alltogether.
It's kinda like how I'll get stuck on an effect while working on a video... I can sit there for hours trying to figure out how to do what I want with no luck... then I'll ask someone for help... they usually aren't much help, but somehow, right after I ask them, the solution always comes to me

Yes, I actually do preview, re-read my post and think for a bit...most of the time.nailz1000 wrote:Also, DW, if you have time to sit there and read your post and re-read it and then sit and wait for some time to make sure that you've posted everything you care to on the subject, then thats all well and good. If you think Phade wanting people to actually think before posting is assinine well then...that's retarded.

And before anyone else screws up the word, the proper spelling is "asinine".dwchang wrote:If you think Phade wanting people to actually think before posting is assinine well then...that's retarded.nailz1000 wrote:I've never heard of anything more assining than not being able to edit your own posts.

I tend to write a lot when I post, so I always preview them. Sometimes if I'm debating something, I'll preview the same post multiple times. And I'll *still* occassionally find myself slapping my forehead the moment I hit submit - remembering something else I should have added. Hello, double post regardless of previewing time.
Not that I care if there's an edit button - I never did like having that bold message saying I edited my post. Maybe if they don't use that on this sort of forum I'd use the edit button - but only if I had to. I'm not a stickler on the unwritten anti-double posting rule.
